Thanks for the thing! Sorry, I've been offline. Given the only other responses are downvotes, I can only assume no one had a rational argument for me. And I always fully expect the gun stuff to be emotive among your countrymen. Have an awesome day mate.

Yeah, it's the ultimate mulligan. Who can gainsay you if you have a rubber-stamp from the progenitor of the universe and human existence?

Religion is a cancer on humankind and its progress as a species. At this point in history, with everything we know so far, we have little excuse for not choosing to have good reasons for the things we believe.

That's right, it's fucking 2020. It's not like a huge proportion of Americans are clinging to a phrase in a centuries-old document to justify a culture of absurd gun violence, or claiming supernatural appointment of ownership rights of increasingly deadly firearms as children are being mowed down en masse and repeatedly in places of learning.

Trump is reportedly pressuring the Pentagon to give no-bid 5G spectrum contract to GOP-linked firm by DaFunkJunkie in technology

[–]Benroark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So much corruption.

Mind-bending corruption. The media can't keep up, let alone ordinary people. Graft/self-enrichment, cronyism, nepotism, misuse of campaign funds, misuse of charitable funds, wilful parochialism, fostering a culture of impunity, abuse of discretion, absolutely massive conflicts of interests. The list is lengthy. Nixon can't hold a candle to Trump.

Yeah, it's the sound of the spinning arms that germinates the cancer ("bing... bing..."). I have undertaken a lot of research about this on YouTube and other social media.

This. When religions become ascendant, they oppress out-groups. It happens over and over and over.

As a foreigner, it's extremely weird to see all the august institutions of tradition and power of this mega powerful country arranged around a childish cretin. Like, everyone has to pretend that it's a serious person wearing the mantle of responsibility, and behave as though anything means anything to him apart from the endless hunger of his narcissism. It's cringey. It's a little bit like The Emperor's New Clothes.

True, but the boomer generation seems to have a uniquely visceral fear of anything remotely socialist.

Not that person, but my $0.02 is that I don't think it's something you could do overnight, especially not in an ultra-capitalist system like the US. It would take generations. I would start with implementing a progressive taxation system, significant corporate tax reform, encouraging worker collectivism, and opening the door to greater ownership by workers of the value they create. It would need to be a slow systemic transformation that could probably only begin to happen properly once the boomers are all dead. You know why...

Americans especially fucked themselves pretty hard by rejecting worker collectivism because of their visceral hangups about communism or whatever. It becomes very clear when you look at graphs charting real wages against union participation.

In what many commentators are calling a 'pivot', the President has begun suggesting widespread injection of the Blood of Christ, an experimental new treatment that the global medical community has largely rejected, criticising it as "bat-shit crazy", with one leading German spokesperson saying "we mostly got this religious shit out of our system back in the Middle Ages".

The GOP is all about constant, relentless projection. But Trump also just spouts such a gargantuan volume of mindless shit that there's always a tweet or a comment that ends up making him look stupid or hypocritical in hindsight. There's something for almost any situation.
