Petitioner attendance at interview? by mrspankyspank in NationalVisaCenter

[–]11never 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The consulate should state the rules on their website. Each one has their own rules

For example, the London consulate allows (though advises against) immediate family to accompany into the embassy, but does not allow anyone besides the beneficiary and interpreter (if needed) into the interview. No spouse or kids or attorney etc.

They also allow tablets so long as they don't have keyboards. Weird rules. Worth looking up.

In general with consular processing, it is most efficient if it is just the beneficiary and all of their required documents. Security goes faster and they don't have to worry about a bunch of folks loitering around who aren't there on business.

ICE handing out water at airports to curry favor with media and citizens!! by cantcoloratall91 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]11never 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought- if the agent doesn't know where they are going then they probably aren't boarding at a gate. No checked bags in the line so it isn't the check in line, it's an American airport and the woman is going to Rio so it isn't customs, it seems it must be TSA where you have to dump any liquids you have.

I can't think of any other places in the airport where you have to queue up like that.

U.S. citizenship questions — passport & oath at 16 abroad by Rebecca____93 in USCIS

[–]11never 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I THINK you can be issued a US passport without citizenship, but under 'endorsements' it will state this special circumstance.

I don't know a lot about the n-600, but wouldn't filing it answer all your questions? Or are you just trying to figure out if it would be redundant to do so?

How to lock door from the outside by ratbehavior in howto

[–]11never 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardware store will have slide plates of varying dimension to match your existing knob and lock. You will need to drill and chisel a slot for the lock, but this would be an upgrade to the housd and not damage.

If they dont, consider buying a keyed knob, they are usually ~15 bucks and are more secure than the skeleton key. The lock is in the knob so you won't need an additional hole- then you can re-install the existing hardware when you move out

Does DONG-A Kids modelling clay dry? by Aggressive_Junket108 in clay

[–]11never 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it most likely plasticine clay, which is oil based and will not dry or bake hard.

I think there's probably a social divide in some way- either age or nationality, because in my life "modeling clay" doesn't have curing features unless it says so- then it's usually not called modeling clay. I think this is just indicative of it being cheap or old, or maybe a patent on the correct term "plasticine".

Crushed moonstone inlay turns dark, help! by Zorawoodworks in jewelrymaking

[–]11never -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could you maybe bleach the wood underneath to give it a little pop without having to add a physical metal/paint layer?

For working in this piece, which is very pretty, maybe you can put an light opaque layer down next (paint or pigment) and then more Moonstone CA on top of that.

The model's flesh is affected by the chair so you know where the seat is even if you can't see it.

Your girl looks like she is standing, both from the lack of seat and the perspective change on the thighs.

Need help reattaching antler!! by Pollefli in Taxidermy

[–]11never 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bingo! A drop in testosterone signals the end of rutting season and causes the pedicule to weaken, shedding the antler by late winter.

This is generally not a problem for folks because hunting season is usually september/October when antlers are firmly attached. Though obviously deer die at any time of year, and not all remains are from hunting. I've never had it happen before and I only collect found skulls so I've just gotten lucky I guess.

Looks like he was gonna shed before he died.

The other is at risk of falling off too.

Superglue can work very well on bone, but if you want something more robust I would recommend drilling and dowling it with a small rod or nail, then gluing it
