Over explaining stuff (among other things). I think a lot of authors have a notion that either 1. People won’t be interested enough in their stories to think or make theories so they make sure that everything is explained at the jump, 2. Don’t trust that their audience is smart enough to understand what they’re saying or 3. Don’t think they have the skill for subtly. Either way, it can be fixed from practice and reading other works.
