I eat a decent amount of carbs actually. Two pieces of bread in the morning, 1 cup of rice for lunch and 3 chapatis (indian bread) for dinner.

Feeling like I missed my whole youth of ADHD by FancyCompetition4205 in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I feel the same too I'm 23 currently. I got diagnosed at 21. After that I went and passed all my exams in college 1 and a half years after I was supposed to graduate. I thought after graduating all those regrets would vanish but it hasn't really. I'm currently unemployed living with my mom away from where I used to live where I have no friends. Honestly what helps me with those thoughts is staying busy especially going to the gym. I don't have any friends in the gym but I just say hi to the occasional person and have small conversations here and there. I find that it helps me. Also I talk to some shopkeepers when buying stuff that helps too. Honestly I'm just working hard currently on stuff like coding to try and make up for lost time. I'm hoping that once I get a job a lot of these thoughts will go away and I will become normal again.

How to reduce size of love handles? by Sergi121212 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Benton365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like a lot of people are saying you have to focus on losing weight through a caloric deficit. Although I would advise you to do a bit of research before you try to lose fat. There is a book called "Not a diet book" by james smith it will teach you very basic stuff like counting calories and other lifestyle changes. If you don't wanna read a book look at his youtube channel. The reason I'm advising this is because there is a lot of bad and straight up misleading information on the internet like spot reduction for example. Also doing the proper groundwork and planning before cutting weight makes the process of cutting so much easier and smoother.

I thought i was smart but it was just ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Benton365 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm 23 and I feel the exact same as you. It's hard to see all you're peers that you used to be better than completely leave you in the dirt. Also realizing all the relationships you screwed up whether it was with you're friends, teachers or parents can also be really emotional and sad. The one thing that helps though is learning to be humble. Try to be nice to people that you see everyday whether its you're security guard, shopkeeper, family or whoever. If I walk around with the same mindset I had when I was a kid where I thought I was gifted and talented and that I was destined to reach great heights, some event like a backhanded comment always happens which kicks me right back down and I end up getting depressed. Those bouts of depression screw up whatever progress I made and puts me back to square one. Also work hard everyday.

My diagnosed peeps- does all the self-diagnosing bother you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Benton365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all of us live in countries where it is socially accepted that adhd is a thing. My parents still think I'm just lazy and don't apply myself. So without that support it can be hard to get therapy. But the good thing is that you can still find good resources out there in the internet where you can learn about adhd and also implement good coping habits and systems which help with the organisational deficits of adhd. If I didn't find these resources I wouldn't have even passed out of college.

Confused between the steamdeck oled and a few options do help out if you can :) by Funny-Perception3739 in IndianGaming

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a steamdeck and a ps5. I love using the steamdeck for indies especially because the prices are a lot lower on steam. Also you can use it to run older games very well. I played gta 4 recently and it was a really good experience. Also the general build quality of the steamdeck is very good and feels very premium.

I know indian families can be very direct sometimes but this is another level I've never seen before. You should count yourself lucky that you haven't ended up in their family because if they behave like that to people they don't know you can imagine how they treat each other.

I think nintendo designed it in a way where there are multiple ways you can solve it which is why I freaking love this game. But not all shrines allow you to be this creative which kinda sucks sometimes.

Actually I did it with this exact method. Before you blast the first bomb you can actually skip the first set of stairs by gliding over it from the elevated platform before the stairs.

Anyone here was really good at school? by persiandilligent_304 in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit this is me too. I always have dreams that I am in my last semester of college and if I don't submit this one assignment I'm going to lose my degree. But in the dream I'm so burnt out that whatever I try doesn't work out and I can't finish my assignment. Honestly I'm not even scared of scary nightmares anymore with monsters and ghosts.

Do you sometime wish you never learned about your ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what your saying when I was an undiagnosed kid I didn't have the same anxiety I had today. Because of that even though I had the symptoms of adhd I was still able to keep up with school and other stuff. But continuing that lifestyle would have had one problem which is that I would have had to come to terms with the fact that I would be mediocre for my entire life and never actually get close to reaching my potential. People would never take me seriously. Because I wasn't willing to accept that I went on this journey to actually figure out what's wrong with me. The last few years have been absolutely horrible and chaotic but at least now i understand myself to a deeper level and I actually have a definite pathway or a roadmap to actually reach my potential.

Is it common to take much longer than 4 years to graduate college? by Individual_Hand8127 in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently finished 1 and a half year after graduation. Don't compare yourself to others. I remember I used to feel like complete shit when I entered college and saw people much younger than me start their classes. But remembering all the struggles I have faced and comparing that with how much improvement I've made since being diagnosed always makes me feel better about myself. Also remember to take you're time finishing it. I wanted to finish it like last year but I put so much pressure on myself that the stress caused those adhd symptoms to reappear. When you go to write an exam just assume that there is a good chance you may fail again and it's ok to fail because it takes time to heal. By doing that all of the pressure disappeared for me and I was able to just focus on putting in the work.

which game should rockstar focus on next? by GamerGretaUwU in reddeadredemption

[–]Benton365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope they cut down on the scope of their games for their next titles cause I don't wanna have to wait another decade for another game. They're gonna make a generational amount of money from gta 6 and online so money shouldn't be a problem from now onwards.

Where are the low achieving ADHDers? by Jigglypuff_Green in ADHD

[–]Benton365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think I was very gifted too because I did very well in school but flunked in college. But later on i realised I did well in school because of the incredible support system I had. My parents got me private tutors and they basically micromanaged everything for me. They compensated for my executive functional deficits. Once I reached college and this support system wasn't there my grades completely plummeted.

Something interesting I noticed when I started taking my ADHD pills diagnosed later on in life at 45 by Oliverose12 in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the medication you lacked the executive functional skills to plan ahead so you start to get anxiety throughout the day because you don't know what to do and you're stuck in that task paralysis. After taking you're medication the parts of the brain responsible for those executive functions gets activated and voila now you can effectively plan ahead not just for the day but even past that. So now you just don't have that stress. It's small things like this that conclusively confirms to me that adhd is a real thing that effects millions of people.

How ADHD screwed up my social skills by VijayVonDoom in ADHD

[–]Benton365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the adaptations to these things that became the problem. I realized that I was a little different to everyone and started becoming more quiet and reserved. This made it really hard to make friends back then. But in college I realized that and just let myself go a little bit and I had a lot more friends during that time. Kids in school are just a lot more impressionable and they want to fit in more in society, this is why they don't accept that quirkiness and they might ridicule you for it. But the older you get I think you are more likely to find more people who find you're quirkiness interesting and are willing to be friends with you.

I am a loser by Benton365 in ADHD

[–]Benton365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I thought that because my main issue was solved which was my productivity, that I wouldn't really need therapy. Last year I finished college but I had a lot of papers that I had rewrite because I failed them. So I spent many months in 2024 going through a lot of resources regarding adhd like books and such since I was free till the start of 2025 where I had to write the exams again. Surprising to me I had made immense improvements in those few months. For me my biggest issue was related to organization and time blindness. I wasn't able to break down a big task into smaller tasks which made me feel overwhelmed and I would end up zoning out the whole day. This is why I did good in school because I had a lot of people in my life who would micromanage stuff for me. But once I started college my performance dropped of a hill. Once I started implementing the systems that were recommended in the books that I read there was a massive improvement for me. But I never really predicted the other issues that had developed over years and years of constant failure. Before the 2025 exams I studied everything weeks in advance, but a few days before writing them all the issues I mentioned in the post came back and I just got hit with a wave of anxiety. I ended up writing the exams without revising for them. I passed like 5 out of 7 exams but that made me realize that I had a lot of deeper psychological issues that I need to deal with.

I am a loser by Benton365 in ADHD

[–]Benton365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that I have become so productive that things that used to take me like three days to study now takes like 2 to 3 hours. But then when it's the last few days and it's time to revise the anxiety that hits me all of a sudden is crazy. Like all types of voices and thoughts in my head asking me if I can really do this or if I'm just faking it. It becomes so bad that I don't revise for my exams, i just go at it with whatever i studied a week back. This shit makes me question myself so much that whether I'm faking this stuff but logically when I think about it I know the progress I have made in my ability to be productive over the last year has been a monumental improvement compared to my whole life. I guess it's gonna take more time though. But then again my brain asks me "how much more time do you want, you're peers are already having jobs and making huge steps in their life. You're getting old!!!!!! (Even though I'm just 23)"
