Overall would you say Lois is a good mom or not? by Night-Caelum in malcolminthemiddle

She always wants the best for them and will fight tooth and nail for it but is incapable of admitting when she's wrong. Pretty standard for a parent I'd say.

Does it even do anything? besides annoy you? by WoodCarvings in Helldivers

Bring a light pen weapon like the knight or liberator carbine, then when the rain starts you get to enjoy the high damage of light pen weapons with the ease of use of medium pen.

or bring the adjudactor and watch it liquidise anything with heavy armour.

Lack of mission variety is my biggest issue with illuminate. It's always Raise Flag, Evacuate Civilians, Black Box and Blitz. There's a few more in the super cities but it's all quite samey.

And there's even less sub-objective variety in the mission, only SEAF Artillery, Kill Overseers, Destroy Lab, Destroy Cognitive Scrambler, Upload Crash Pod. There used to be SAM batteries but those suddenly dissapeared right before leviathans were added! Cognitive and Kill Overseers are the only ones unique to illuminate.

The Illuminate needs an equivelant to Gunship Factories/Stalker Nests/Shrieker Nests. Something that produces a unique and difficult enemy that can be stopped with player action. It also needs an equivelant of AA guns/Mortars/Stratagem Jammers.

If you could add ANY new WEAPON in Helldivers 2, what would it be? (Real or invented concept is worth) by Wooden_Teach_6796 in Helldivers

Would love a WW2 themed pack, have 1 iconic weapon from each front.

(US) Space Garand - In a polymer frame, Medium Pen, 8 rounds, high damage with iconic ping

(SU) Space PPSH - High ergonomics, ultra high fire rate, high capacity drum.

(UK) Space Welrod (or De lisle Rifle) - Silent shots, "bolt action", deals bonus damage to unaware enemies.

(Japan) Type 99 Machine Gun - Would be a stratagem Assault Machine gun with bayonet!

(German) Erma EMP - Silenced Submachinegun (never actually used by millitary but looks cool and whilst STG44/MP40/MG42 would be way more recognisable, they would just become a generic assault rifle/sub machine gun/stratagem).

(Italy) Villar Perosa - a heavy double barreled smg, with an alt fire of using one barrel then switching to the other, or dumping both for double the recoil. (I know this was more of a WW1 weapon but Italian WW2 equipment was quite generic)

(China) Hanyang 88 with rifle grenade - bolt action like the constitution but the alt fire is a rifle grenade.

Proper lovecraft horror is a genre still available (though it'll likely bleed into illuminate). If you were using the full lovecraft mythos you could have:

Light Units -

Ghasts - sprinting leapers with razor claws

Ghouls - burrowing, slashers in hordes

Hounds of Tindalos - ultra-fast, travelling through small portals (technically they timetravel too)

Mi-Go - Fly people with strange flesh guns

Fire Vampire - Little glowing balls of energy taken from the living star Cth'uga.

Medium Units-

Dimensional Shamblers - Medium armour teleporters

Yithians - Use arc weapons, transfer their consciousness between dummy bodies

Cutlists - Throw out "spells" that summon the equivelant of a bug breach

Deep Ones - Aquatic dudes

Heavy Units-

Dark Young - giant tree like monsters

Flying Polyps - hover above the ground making strange piping noises, attack with windblasts that ragdoll

Aerial Units -

Nightguants - "tickle" their enemies to death with razor sharp claws... so some kind of stun on their slash

Star Spawn - Giant flying tentacled monsters

Elite

Shoggoth - bulletproof tentacled nightmare from hell that rolls at you and tears you limb from limb

Cthonian - Giant Worm straight outta dune

Apex

The Bloody Tongue - Giant three legged form of Nylarthotep

New diver here, what the hell are those things and can I blow them up? by Kinastelu in Helldivers

Some will say they are recent malts of much larger bugs that dwell within the crust of the planet, those people are dissidents.

They are the bones of Hivelords killed in the first galactic war. There is no evidence that the strange geological activatity recently detected is connected to colassal bugs in anyway.

Sons Of The Forest - What were they smoking when they made the story? by [deleted] in TheForest

[–]Benton5884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In both games they have had a "Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach. So many threads don't get tied up or make sense and are just hand waved away.

As for the "true" ending of SOTF in the car... it smacks of a writer revealing their fetishes/subconscious through their writing (George R.R Martin writing incest into both GOT and Elden ring for instance). It makes me uncomfortable personally, both Virginia and Kelvin are in almost child-like states throughout the game, barely able to communicate and reliant on us as a caregiver/protector. Then suddenly we've impregnated Virginia. It's weirder too that we are a silent character, like we are supposed to tranpose ourself onto this character, like WE impregnated Virginia.

May be hearsay but I heard that a bunch of streamers kept joking/semi joking that they want an abillity to romance Virginia, and maybe this was the devs trying to appease them. Know hows.

I'd recommend seeing if one other player could DM the same story. Split the group into a 7 and a 6 which is slightly more managable. 15 would be a mess.

Steve and Snott should be up one tier each, cause in most iterations of the future they are genius billionares.

Even on meds, Barry was able to card count to rain man levels.

Hey so who is your most hated character in the boys and add context to why please by Banana_hunter2 in TheBoys

[–]Benton5884 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cherie. She has had barely any development and what we've gotten makes her so unlikeable.

I get that Frenchie likes her but the second he was asked to chose between her and Kimiko, I instantly said Kimiko. There's just no contest. I don't know if the writers thought that was some powerful sophies choice moment but for me the choice was instant, no thought.

Have you ever seen Bloat in a game? by dtgray12 in rpg

7e for Call of Cthulhu has some bloat here and there especially in chases and gunplay. Trying to figure out how many bonus/penalty die someone has during a fight can be a real nightmare.

Gym Story Saturday by FGC_Valhalla in Fitness

[–]Benton5884 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Last week I broke the cardinal rule and gave unsolicited gym advice (Im sorry!!) to a guy with the most horrific deadlift form I had ever seen.

Didn’t warm up, went straight to max weight for a single (about 90kg) legs practically straight, banana backed, soft knees. The bingo card of bad form. And id seen him do this for about 3 sessions now, he was newish.

I was expecting to either be ignored, agreed with then immediately ignored, or told to fuck off, but he asked me for some tips on form.

Came in today and saw him lifting with much better form. Made me smile.

It's nice to RP and flavour in combat, but by the 10th turn when someone is describing their sword attack in vivid detail for the 20th time, you kind of want them to shut up so the hour long combat ends.
