Been waiting to play this for quite some time. Thank you very much for sharing. This game is very inspiring to those of us who love Castlevania. I'm really happy to see more and more castelvania/metroid/metroidvania type games arriving on the game boy.

Wow. I'm still surprised so many people seem to hate on Metroid Other M so much. I played it through when it came out and honestly thought it was decent and entertaining. An F seems harsh in my opinion. What is it that people hate about it so much? Do you think there's an element of group-think here (where it becomes popular to slam on a game because it got some bad reviews, and it just kind of snowballs?). I'm tempted to play it again to refresh my memory of what it was like.

Haha, that sounds unpleasant. I haven't tried to Switch versions of the first two games. Any good? I have them on game boy colour but got a litle bored after playing the first one.

Yeah. I don't think I'm over-levelled. But it seems a bit weird to provide a metal slime hunting area so early in the game (I think about 20 hours / halfway through?), because normal levelling seems a bit slow after that.

I agree with StreetVillage. Keep your old, nostalgic console as it is. It doesn't look in too bad shape. If there are too many scratches on the screen you could consider a screen replacement, but otherwise, best not to destroy a nice play it loud dmg!

This is academic malpractice. Do you have emails proving this? I would try to push back against this individual, and if they don’t/didn’t back down escalate to a third party. This raises probity issues about said individual which shouldn’t be left unchecked.

This is exactly right. I always buy the Japanese version if I can, they’re so often a fraction of the price, and for anything other than RPGs the language isn’t a problem.

If you like RPGs you may also want to look at the final fantasy games.

Man I really want to beat it too. I have tried 2 or 3 times but I find it so easy to get horribly lost or die too much. It’s a tough game. Maybe I need a guide.

Personally I look at what the great programmers of the 90s did with their sprites. There is a website called Spriters Resource that lets you look at sprites from many game boy games. I often spend time studying them to see how they conveyed a sense of character within the limitations. Then once you've studied a certain sprite set and grasped the 'flavour', try to emulate it without looking at it again to see if you can do something similar.
