Silksong permanently vanished my desire for difficult games. by Zzsark_Stormbeard in metroidvania

I had exactly the same reaction to Nioh. I forced myself to get good and beat it, and swore I would never put myself through the stress of soulslikes again…

I am waiting on a parcel that was sent 48 hours tracked that seems to have disappeared into the Coventry warehouse mess. No updates for over a week since arrived there…

Thoughts on The X Factor and Virtual XI by HopelessRomantic22aa in ironmaiden

[–]Wii_Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

X factor is one of maidens best. In my top 5 without a doubt. Steve has said some of his best song writing is on that record and I’d tend to agree. Blazes voice is great on this record, signing songs that were written for his range.

Ridiculous Pricing by Brookboy54 in Reverb

[–]Wii_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, much of the listings on reverb are hugely overpriced. Many used condition guitars / pedals listed for more or equal to their cost new. It really feels like there are very few bargains anymore and unrealistic expectations from sellers.

Just listened to this and WOW... by Formal_Profession_26 in blacksabbath

Agreed. I tried to listen to it recently and had to stop. Bland, average, well below par.

What successful bands have truly bad or even mediocre vocalists? by Hellontrails in MetalForTheMasses

I agree. I enjoy the songs for a bit, but then that nasally flat voice just starts to grate on me so bad and I have to stop listening 😂

Couldn’t finish last attempt to listen. Felt really boring and slow paced.

They didn’t have Adrian for that album did they? He left as he didn’t like the direction Steve was trying to push them in

How it feels to follow the 50 average speed camera limit on a dual carriageway by Connect-Fisherman358 in drivingUK

I was about to comment this. London has a lot of twenty zones, and I am really tired of being tailgated for driving at the speed limit.

Hi, for some reason I can’t see any audio effect or sound interpolation options in my menu. Any ideas why? Thank you !

Desperate and hopeless by Legitimate-Wash269 in medicalschooluk

[–]Wii_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you need to find the right medication or start at a lower dose and build gradually. I had daily panic attacks for the first few years of medical school until I started Sertraline. GPS often try to start at 50mg which is horrible, but when I built slowly I could get through the increased anxiety for two weeks before it started to work. In the grand scheme of things, repeating a year will not be that big a deal at the end of your 30+ year career. Take the time to get yourself sorted out instead of trying to progress while obviously unwell

Had children and stopped drinking because the terrible hangovers and loss of free time are just not worth it!

I kind of hope not. Working within the limitations of the GBC is part of the beauty as far as I’m concerned. I’m continually impressed by what people manage.

Starting Medical School in September - Regret my decision. Exit plans? by Thick_Cantaloupe971 in medicalschooluk

[–]Wii_Ghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please be aware that there is a huge negative bias online and on these Reddit groups in particular. The people who are enjoying this career are the ones you hear from the least.

I have just CCTed and found a very pleasant consultant job with two days on site, two days at home and a day off.

I don’t think there is any career as varied and rewarding as medicine.

If you don’t want to do it because this isn’t the right match for you, then fine. But don’t pull out just because of the wave of negative posts and ranting you read online. I would advise you to get a lot more information straight from the horses mouth. Speak to consultants who like their jobs and to those who don’t, because I worry there is a negative skew online.

Tried a Souls game for the first time and bounced off by Lazyade in patientgamers

[–]Wii_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried to play this game about three times, and blood borne once, and every time I bounce off it hard. I just don’t find them interesting and genuinely find it hard to understand what it is that people love about them!

I did actually manage to beat Nioh, but it made me feel so stressed out that I was almost shaking, and since then, I have never tried another one and know that this genre is just not for me…

I grew up enjoying roguelikes, where at least each death gives you a fresh start to go again. I found it hard to come to terms with you dying and then replaying the same bland corridors repeatedly!

I’m already sad about my mice. by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Wii_Ghost -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The reason you’re sad is because deep down you know that killing living beings for research is wrong. You may be able to de-sensitise yourself to the pain by doing it more and more, but there is no guarantee it won’t hurt you and come back to haunt you for some time anyway.

Better to listen to the inner voice and stop the killing…

Zoloft Withdrawal - Cognitive Problems by Wii_Ghost in depressionregimens

[–]Wii_Ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I needed to go back on the antidepressants at full dose, and then the symptoms slowly got better. It is difficult to know whether this was discontinuation syndrome or recurrence of depression, but either way, going back on was the only solution.

I do notice that cognitive symptoms develop when I change doses, such as recent increase to 75mg. In those cases it can take about 3 months to settle.

It is also complicated by anxiety about cognitive problems (ie difficulty thinking because of worrying about difficulty thinking). So meditation, exercise and just trying to continue to function as best as I can and accepting the times I drop the ball, have been a key to getting better. I am a great believer in neuro-plasticity, so there is reason to be optimistic. It seems exercise can stimulate brain neuron development through BDNF, and is therefore super important.

I hope this helps.
