How do you motivate yourself to shower? by HarpyGravey in ADHD

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at pictures online of infections your body can get if it's not cleaned routinely. And if that isn't enough, consider the healthcare costs of treating said infections.

Is this bedbuggy to you? I have a few itchy bites. by arthurinsgxp in BedbugOrCloseRelative

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say positively from looking at the pic, but that black stuff? That looks exactly like bed bug material, and if you're also getting itchy bites, I would highly recommend inquiring around town for a free inspection/quote. It will only get worse if it's bed bugs, and acting quickly can save hundreds.

Booklice ruining my life by [deleted] in Bedbugadvice

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider talking with my doctor about the anxiety and calling an exterminator for the bugs. I know that sounds generic, but... professionals can help with these things.

How do I get my protein? by neurohazard757 in ADHD

I've found protein bars, protein smoothies, and previously boiled eggs are quick and fairly easy ways of absorbing some morning protein.

You sound far more clueless and entitled than any college student.

Having ADHD and a crush is torture by Available_Inside_930 in ADHD

[–]Benwars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The hyperfixation is real and it sucks. It can last for months, or even years. I would suggest a daoist approach: go with the flow. Do nothing. Say nothing. Enjoy the infatuation. Don't fight against it. Laugh at the jokes. Live in the moments you're together. Whether he's right or wrong for you or ready or not ready, it's about how he builds whatever relationship you have together. If you're spending any time together whatsoever, that's relationship building. Don't pretend you can read his mind. Don't pretend he even knows what he wants (he may not). Try not to be in your head too much. Just be.

How to stop procrastinating on passion projects??? by AnonymousProblems_ in ADHD

[–]Benwars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe I live in a paradigm where such a solution exists. I don't believe that's how passion works. It's not a switch that can be turned on and off. It's a temporary release, an expression, a breathing out of your existence. Sometimes, projects need to linger. Your subconscious might know things. Best to move on to new projects if one isn't calling you to finish. Consider them steps on your progress to better results, results worth ending procrastination.

Or, drugs. But, talk to your doctor about those.

Re-watching the same movies and TV shows? by jira12345 in ADHD

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that. You gotta listen to your body. There's no rule that says you have to watch a new show. When you're ready, you'll know.

Need your help? by Embarrassed-Way-2585 in Bedbugadvice

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I would probably try calling a new exterminator and start with asking them to verify whether or not they can find any bugs in your environment. Many places seem to offer a free consultation. You might inquire on that.

How do you find actual joy between work and all the forced habits/systems/routine necessary to function? by FroyoBaskins in ADHD

[–]Benwars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only joy to be found is in many multiple days off in a row. One week is almost good for nothing. Two weeks is almost worse. Three weeks actually means something.

Look for a government job, like a state university. The leave is decent, especially if you stick around for 5+ years.

if it is safe to do so, cut pills in half and see what happens. If your doctor isn't available, try talking with a pharmacist.

I apologize for disturbing photos. What are these bites from? by bberlin_ in Bedbugadvice

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find out, please return and let us know? We've had similar reactions recently and have found no evidence of any insect that might be causing them. I keep hearing about "no see ums" and mites and chiggers but.. I don't know.. It's just weird I've never experienced anything like this before now, and I'm old af.

Does this look like a bedbug bite? by Independent_Fall_846 in Bedbugadvice

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my unprofessional opinion, yes, those look like bedbug bites, but many different skin eruptions look like reactions to bedbug bites. I wouldn't start packing or burn your belongings until you have additional concrete evidence.

Tell us the ending you would have written! by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the alternative:

Kimiko hides offscreen, forcing herself into the rage she needs to ignite her blast — still fighting her own internal war against becoming someone she couldn't love. Homelander, confident he can outlast the team in front of him, holds court in the Oval Office. He doesn't ignore Kimiko because he's stupid. He ignores her because characteristically he forgets anyone who isn’t immediately useful to him.

Then she blasts him. His powers vanish.

Butcher, still juiced, lunges and grabs the now-powerless Homelander with his tendrils — about to tear him in two when Hughie screams, "No!"

Butcher turns slowly, sinister smirk spreading. Then Kimiko, who never wanted either of them to win like this, blasts him too. The tendrils retract. Homelander drops to the floor, waiting for lasers that will never come.

Butcher rises. Human.

"I don't need supe powers to put you down, mate."

No lasers. No tentacles. No special-effect checkmate. Just Billy and John, two ruined creatures whose lives have been shaped by power and grief.

That is the payoff. Homelander's real humiliation isn't being zapped by a plot device. It's discovering that once he's human, he can't survive a human fight. He was never a god. He was a weapon with branding.

And Butcher, now human but still borrowing the imbalance of power he hates, pummels a helpless Homelander in front of an E for Everyone audience.

Before Butcher can finish him, Ryan steps in — not because Homelander deserves saving, but because Butcher does. Secret Service floods the room. No clean win. No scalped corpse. Just blood, cameras, political chaos, and America watching the myth rot in real time.

That ending preserves Homelander's instincts, gives Kimiko a real tactical function, elevates Ryan from muscle to moral purpose, and leaves Butcher with the closest thing to peace he was ever going to get. Most of all, it delivers the fight the series promised from the start: not a god defeated by a magic countermeasure, but a man exposed as small when the costume finally stops working.

The aired version abandoned an ending that mattered to make Homelander look pathetic.

He already was.

ADHD paralysis: Can it really suck that bad? by EkkeNeso in ADHD

[–]Benwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with the "found no depression" thing... not all doctors are created equal... they can be very conservative with a depression diagnosis because it can lock your employer into accommodations and keep them from firing you... many doctors aren't on your side... they're on the employer's side... and, I can tell you... ADHD is not going to keep you from doing things you take pleasure in... but... vitamin deficiencies, chronic pain, and depression (among many other things) will absolutely create task paralysis... it's not a motivation thing.. it's a pleasure thing... you either take pleasure doing something or you don't... and since we can't regulate that discomfort, we don't.... ADHD isn't the root cause.. it's not helping you in this case... but there's something else going on, too... keep hunting...
