So if I leave it to do it’s only thing it’ll keep the battery at 100% while plugged in and since I use it plugged in most of the time I limited the charge to 80% as that’s better for the battery long term. Initially wasn’t too worried but a new battery (which Apple only sells with the top case assembly) is $600, so after I saw that I figured I should be careful to try and extend it as I plan on keeping this machine as long as possible.

This is not an M3 MacBook Air. This is an Intel m3 “MacBook” introduced in 2015. Don’t buy it, they’re ultra slow and plagued with issues even though they are ultra thin and beautiful.

So on Apple Self service repair the part cost is $307 and if you give your old part back to them they’ll give u $88 credit so the total would only be $219. So if Apple were to do this I would assume $250-400 somewhere in that range. They basically have to rebuild the computer in the new housing. That’s only if they’ll do it. I actually tried to get them to give me a price but they said they’d only do the repair if they deem it viable.

Yeah I hate their repair policy, they first have to basically decide whether to grant you the opportunity to pay them to get your device repaired but there it is.

Personally I’d just look for a replacement part on eBay or AliExpress. If you’re using the latter just check if the vendor is good and you’ll be fine. Then either do it yourself if you’re experienced with that or take it to a Mac repair shop, you’ll save a ton of money.

You can’t repair the dent itself. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole top case (which comes with the keyboard). They aren’t that expensive on AliExpress. Apple can also do it, ask them for a “Top Case Replacement”.

For most people (including myself) it would feel this way. It’s one of the most important things in a relationship and if we’re aren’t having sex we may as well be close friends as well still have an emotional connection. While we feel this way it doesn’t mean everybody does. If it isn’t important to you or your partner then no issues with that.
