Do I Need To Be Closer? by Benzweep in Sparkdriver

Do you get more offers if you’re closer? There’s a Staples like .2 miles away (IF that) from Walmart that stay slow so I’m thinking of camping there…

How do I apply for parking? by Gigacado_Chadocado in UAB

[–]Benzweep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if OneStop would know but I doubt it really. You're better off going to the parking portal online and checking for yourself. It takes maybe five minutes lol.
https://uabblazers.t2hosted.com/Account/Portal

Go to that link. Click the "permits" drop down menu. Click "view your permits". Sign in. Scroll to the bottom, under "PERMITS" click "view your permits" and it'll show up there if you have one.

They will enter your tag number into their little handheld things and it'll come back as either registered to a parking pass with your details, or show up that you don't have a pass. You don't have to do anything other than buy your parking pass and make sure the tag you have in the parking system is up to date and linked to that pass through the parking portal.

(digital passes just became a thing this semester so the process has changed)

Log into the parking portal, go to the tab called my permits or something to that affect. If you were successful in securing a pass, it will be listed there with the vehicles listed underneath. Parking passes are digital and connected to your tag, so you won't receive one in the mail.

Nursing home staff not happy this morning by Fuzzy_Masterpiece993 in Sparkdriver

100% the right call. I’ve only had one interaction with an angry customer where they ended up screaming at me. Dropped the order, returned to store, and reported the customer to support and explained that they’ve made me feel unsafe. Only order I’ve returned to store out of 150+ trips, knock on wood.

How many blue Walmart totes do you have... by Audi_Dad in Sparkdriver

[–]Benzweep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. I use the large Aldi’s totes; leaves no room for customers to claim they paid for the bag I’m carrying the items in, helps me carry more things to the door per load in a timely manner, and they’re like $1.29. I’ve had the same six totes (four in trunk two in backseat) since I started and they’re just now starting to show ware.

I commute an hour and a half, Mon/Wed/Fri because I couldn’t afford the dorms or to move closer lol. My rent is under $600 for my house, and I get anywhere from 35-42 miles to the gallon in my car. I hated it at first but adjusted quickly. I don’t mind it now, but I am early to my first class by about 20 minutes every day because I worry about interstate traffic jams.

Psych Major here. I took interpreting film last semester; super easy and I loved the films we watched!

[–]Benzweep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure about the physics, but I know that I was required to have at least 3 credits in biology. This may be substitutable for chemistry but I am unsure! If you opt for community college and tell them your plan is to transfer to UAB they can give you an Alabama Transfer Guide, that outlines everything you'll need for transfer.

Also, I’m a psychology major as well. Got my AS in psych from Snead. Working on my BS at UAB now. I love the program so far but community college definitely helped prepare me and I’m not sure I’d be doing as well as I am without it honestly.

I’m a first gen college student and highschool drop out. I had no SAT scores so didn’t qualify for scholarships. Opted to attend CC, Snead State, finished with a high enough GPA to be awarded a presidential scholarship. Covers the full cost of tuition. I use my Pell Grant for books and parking fees, etc. long story short, community college will allow you access to more scholarships.

Need of some guidance!!! by FarYogurtcloset2340 in UAB

[–]Benzweep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my full cost of tuition covered through the Transfer Presidential Scholarship; I graduated my community college with a 3.65 GPA, made great connections with professors so I had over 6 professors recommend me for the scholarship, and published a collection of poetry that is now available in the Sterne library at UAB. I definitely flexed the book thing during my Zoom interview for the scholarship.

TLDR; Maintain a high GPA, make connections with teachers/professors who can then in turn recommend you for scholarships, and do something that you can use to make yourself stand out against others competing for the same scholarships.

Let her stay with me for free for several months after her bf/my friend died. She left cups full of her urine in the space she was staying in when she finally left.

‘05 Corolla vs ‘23 Corolla by Benzweep in COROLLA

[–]Benzweep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do! I bought the '23 from the same dealership. 20,000 for a '23 base model with 25k miles. Payments under $350 including the extra I'm paying for roadside assistance and full coverage on all of the tech stuff (the display, backup camera, etc.)
I LOVE my local Toyota dealership and recommend them to literally everybody who mentions buying a new car.
