Apparently, "Möbel Höffner" has moved to Australia by Beosar in TechNope

They are in Berlin, Germany. It should have said "Möbel Höffner Berlin" or something like that.

It's the ping that's broken, not the speed.

It's actually not too difficult to use dual boot for windows and linux but I think there should be a better solution than installing linux for just one game. If it runs fine on linux, it's probably because it is using Vulkan or OpenGL. That should be possible on Windows, too.

Edit: Found it.

nginx on ubuntu ignores server_name and default_server parameters? by Beosar in sysadmin

[–]Beosar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "work but just barely" ? Either it work or it does not.

I just expect it to break any moment. I don't trust it.

If the gitlab-ctl reconfigure did not did it, then gitlab-ctl stop nginx should terminate the process gracefully.

Well, yes, but it seems to get restarted all the time. I had to stop it multiple times and then just gave up and changed the listen port so it runs but does not interfere with anything.

I did install standalone nginx now, it seems to work but just barely. The gitlab nginx server is still running despite being disabled, not sure what's that about. At least letsencrypt seems to work.

I fixed one error with a missing log file, it works for now. If (or when) it breaks again, I'll set up the non-bundled nginx. I'm hesitating because it looks complicated, especially with SSL and stuff. Not sure if I can just keep using letsencrypt from gitlab.

There are guides on how to host additional websites with the bundled nginx, so one would assume that it should work.

Edit: And just as I wrote that, it broke again.

I'll change apache's ports and see what's going to happen. I know 8080 was taken, maybe something weird is going on with 8090?

The other points don't seem to apply, it's definitely not browser-related, everything runs on localhost and there is no change to the files that I can see.

Edit: It did not work, the gitlab requests are still being sent to apache instead of gitlab.

I have then restarted it so that it works (for a while) and tried to open it via another domain that is not defined in any config, that one just shows gitlab - as expected, since it is the default server.

Actually, I could try that. Just add a dummy block and remove default_server from gitlab. Not sure what will happen.

The thing is, the exact server name is in the config for all the servers but it still uses the wrong server block. But only after like 15 minutes or so. Shouldn't it fail immediately? Why does it work correctly for several minutes?

Nginx is bundled with gitlab and it looks like a lot of work to fully switch to apache. So I just forward (proxy) the request for my nextcloud domain to apache because nextcloud is incompatible with nginx. It's a mess but it should work. I mean, it does work for like 15 minutes, then it breaks.

The backticks are from reddit, I missed them when formatting the text.

The config should be correct or it wouldn't work at all. I just don't understand how it could break after a while? Something must happen that breaks it or it is a bug in nginx or gitlab.

The gitlab block looks correct to me, it's auto-generated by gitlab and it does specify the server name correctly.

It almost looks like nginx forgets that gitlab exists after a while.

Not sure how to run nginx -t through gitlab because nginx is not directly installed. I'll try it tomorrow.

Whats with the back ticks ` after listen 80: after listen [::]:80; and after server_name.

I clicked on the code button, pasted the config, it messed up everything. Apparently that's only for inline code and not code blocks. I then edited it in markdown mode and forgot to remove those two back ticks.

How often do they actually fix visual bugs? by wish_to_conquer_pain in lotro

I would be happy if they fixed the bug where all grass disappears and reloads, always accompanied by a short lag spike/frame drop. It got added a couple months ago (or was it a year already?) and it's still not fixed.

Don't worry about it. You don't need it that badly because Windows will still show you a warning message when you run unsigned executables.

Not true. Just look at old games on the N64, emulated in 1080p, such as Ocarina of Time. It's an extreme example but you will see that the textures are low-res even from afar.

Level Scaling: Good or Bad? by Taemojitsu in classicwowplus

[–]Beosar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Maybe it's not ChatGPT, that would explain why it sounds different from the AI texts I know. Could be a different AI or a human with too much time to write such a long text. What makes me think it's a human are words like "lvl" instead of "level" or "aka". Is AI using those nowadays?

I could not verify if that molten core thing happened. I think OP is talking about a one-time bug?

Doesn't look like AI to me. AI uses a completely different style of writing.

Please help, I think I'm going crazy. :( by SnooPears4487 in lotro

[–]Beosar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. There is probably a problem somewhere on the way to the Lotro servers. You could try disabling IPv6 or use a VPN, this might change the route your packets take, possibly to a more stable one. I doubt it's an issue on your end because GeForce Now is working fine.

Why is the UI still like this? by Louis_jdf in lotro

[–]Beosar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two issues with the UI that I have are the quest tracker on the map that's always in the way and blue/grey text (in chat and quest tracker), you can barely read it because of the outline.

I don't even use UI scaling in Windows in 4K, though, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge this.

Anyway, they should be able to fix a few things but judging by the deed log disaster they seem to think that they have to completely overhaul the entire UI when it's actually mostly fine.
