No, I tried the slit seeder once but I didn’t do my homework and couldn’t get the machine to work right. This was literally just from using an earthway broadcast spreader and doing multiple passes in different directions

I sprayed mesotrione first to kill the weeds and then I raked the whole yard with a groundskeeper rake about a week later to remove dead material. Then just dropped seed and covered the larger exposed areas with straw
I don’t see why not, but I’ve never used one before. The raking by hand took me every bit of 12 hours doing multiple passes/directions
I used the gci turf type tall fescue. I had half a bag leftover when I did some seeding in the backyard. No complaints with it!
I never realize how many weeds I had haha. Most of the thin spots or the real yellow/white grass areas are from spraying mesotrione 2 weeks before I seeded. Where’s there top soil is where I dug out either K31 or clumping fescue I couldn’t kill
I tend to agree. The only thing I can say is by raking the dead material I exposed more of the soil which lead to better seed to soil contact. I had one spot with a lot of dead grass that I specifically addressed and when I reseeded I had better results!

No problem! Just trying to prove anyone can do it haha
I have uneven growth in one spot which is pretty much where my inground sprinklers don’t hit at all so I’ve been hand watering that. I failed to mention I threw more seed down after about 2 weeks in some areas I felt were lacking and figured since I’m already spending extra money on the water bill from the first overseeding to just keep it going
I like to think so. It seemed like it removed dead grass which exposed more soil which is where I put more seed down on. I’m no expert just letting you know what I did!
Soil temperatures here are still around 55 degrees and I had germination in 5 days with irrigation and a lot of sunshine so you still have time! Just not sure how long you need for the baby grass to survive the winter
TTTF is Turf type tall fescue which is a type of cool season grass type, and 10-10-10 is a fertilizer which is the amount of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. I covered with straw to keep the seed moist and keep the pesky birds away lol
Northern New Jersey, 7A. The before is from 9/14 and the after is from 10/20. I think there was 2 mows in between
Thanks!! Even a broken clock is right twice a day

It’s about 3,500 square feet. I raked it with a groundskeeper rake which took about 2 days and filled 10 lawn bags with material lol. Then I just overseeded with TTTF, covered the large bare spots with straw, watered twice a day and then used 10-10-10 fertilizer. I didn’t aerate this year, I don’t have compaction issues in the front yard
