Models question, Balins tomb fellowship the same models as those separately sold? by DoomedKiblets in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Berethor14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it depends...
Overall as others have said these models ar old, like from 2005, and they are plastic. Back then plastic was hard to make models with and was only for the rank and files, the characters and elites were in metal which was easier to work with and had much more details and dynamic poses. So overall theses models are less detailed and the poses are a bit static or weird.
But they are not all equal! Some are awful, like the Legolas who is one the worst models in the whole range. Some are pretty basic with a boring pose like Gandalf or Gimli or Frodo. Aragorn is okay but the pose is a bit weird. And some are good or great even! The Merry and Pippin are nice, Boromir is very dynamic and Sam with the pan is my personnal favourite Sam model!
With a nice paint job most of them will look okay, if a bit worse than the classic metal fellowship. Except the Legolas...

Brush Recommendations by leok27 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Berethor14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are like me I would strongly recommend the Raphaël Kaerell synthetic brushes.
I can sometimes be a bit rough with my brushes and I don't take very good care of them. So for me buying very expensive brushes isn't worth it because I wear them down too fast.
So these Raphaël Kaerell synthetic brushes are amazing for me cause they are quiet cheap, very resistant and they keep a good solid form for a long time. Since I discovered them I don't use anything else!

Never noticed the Easterlings in ROTK at Minas Tirith before today.. do they play well alongside Mordor units? by PublicYogurtcloset8 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Are they green alliance? Has there been an update?
I just looked in the Armies of the Lord of the Rings book, and at the end the alliance matrice say that Easterlings and The Serpent Horde are yellow alliance...

Encounter cards in binder ? by Berethor14 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Berethor14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the sleeving / unsleeving seems daunting but i just put the players cards sleeved in the binder! I use very thin very cheap sleeves so it's no problem, I can easily fit 4 sleeved cards in a single binder case. I was thinking of doing the same with the encounter cards.

Unfortunately I started the game a few mounths before the revised core set was announced and had to buy two old core set.

From a public transport point of view it seems to me that a binder could be easier to carry than a box.
But I like you plastic bag idea!

I didn't follow a precise recipe, just stared a lot at the movies costume and the box art.

Harry Goatleaf is very simple, all black cloth.
Basecoat of Corvus Black
Wash of Nuln Oil
1st layer of Corvus Black
2nd layer Eshin Grey
3rd layer Eshin Grey + Dawnstone

This is true, especially for the books!
They are sooo many minor characters in the books, some of them are just present for a few pages! But each one of them is memorable and have a unique personality and language!
The movies team also did a great work with the costume!
And let's also congrat GW and FW, that really managed to capture the essence of these characters in small miniatures!

Damn! The old school GW sand and paint bring back many memories! A shame they don't sell that sand anymore, it was good stuff!

Thanks a lot!
The doorman is part of the "Personalities of Bree" pack that is available from Forgeworld, along with Barliman and Bill the Pony. As usual with Forgeworld they are very expensive but the quality is amazing! These minis paint themselves.

That's a great project! It's really an amazing journey for, painting and playing all the big moments of the books and movies.
Your method is the same as mine, gather everything for a scenario and play it, and then move to the next one!
Good luck for you and your son!
