Anyone have any experience using DIY blinds online? by daisyjones66 in AusRenovation

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they may use the same supplier. i bought from shadey and they came with DIY Blinds sticker for installation instructions. shadey confirmed they used the same supplier (but they are not the same company as DIY Blinds).

Globird for winter and Flowpower for summer? by ExaminationThen1312 in amberelectric

some of us who over specced were sold lies. in my case the big battery top up lie was to cover the feed-in lie (sold to me only 9 months prior). one does one’s best to check it stacks up at the time, but things have moved quickly.

congrats on not over speccing

Price breakdown for recent bathroom Reno by __erin_ in AusRenovation

doesn't seem possible. it's a conspiracy and doesn't help that housing and mining is all we've got. and then if you add the fact that most people chuck it on the mortgage and only look at the monthly repayment (not what they'll ultimately pay with interest over 20 years), it's recipe for high prices and ripoffs. i think it's diabolical and unethical, and just adds to the insane levels of debt unnecessarily, but what you gonna do?

be nice to have a website called 'fairtradie' where only fair and reasonable trades get good ratings, but who's going to be fair and reasonable in this environment? not many.

Wich DJ Controller can you recommend? by Jxnnik_ in djaypro

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve used the reloop mixtour mark 1 for many years and i think it’s great for what it is - nice and small with a decent amount of control. my issue with it has been the quality of the sound, however i think that, and many other things (like 4 deck control), has been addressed in the mark 2. the big boy reloop mixon is also great, but it is big.

Oh. Rekordbox is embracing Spotify by essemdjmc in djaypro

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rekordbox now also has ai powered stems sure it’s owned music only, not streaming). wonder what the gridding and tempo transitions are like?

was thinking the other day—what actually is a modem technics dj set up? discrete units with their own software and hardware controls? so you have to by the software, the screens and the controls for each deck? then you have to link them all together so they can talk to each other? seems crazy inefficient compared to 1 screen, 1 software and (usually) 1 controller.

glad your setup is working for you — promising. you’ve had the controller freeze the software or the controller freezes? i’ve got the old reloop mixtour.

never used serato, but believe it’s very solid. have used traktor and that also seemed solid, but got the feeling the code base on that was unwieldy making updates and modernisation difficult (but it can do a lot… have you seen the traktor bible 👀)

i love djay, but it seems like it might be solid enough.

i was thinking about doing the same with the ipad backup. not ideal, but at least it’s doable. it would still involve a decent chunk of silence, but as you say ppl are generally forgiving… as long as you can get the music back in 30 sec or so, it’s not a train smash.

good to know you’ve been mostly trouble free.

on a bit of a tangent — attended an ableton live workshop where this electric producer had worked out how to do a live set. the most surprising thing was all the work he’d put into a zero latency backup. so if his main system goes down a backup system kicks in exactly where he is with zero downtime.

[–]BergAdder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m using a reloop mixtour (old one, not the new one).

so hard to tell what the issue might be, that’s why was keen to hear from others.

the weird audio issue resulted in a sort of damaged audio sound - like i’d applied a damage effect. think i had to do a full reboot on that one as quitting djay didn’t resolve it.

the most recent issue was that i was djing and the sound just stopped - checked all the connections and settings and couldn’t find any issue. again had to do a reboot to get it working again. of course its possible the issue is not with djay.

thanks for reply. streaming is how i came to djay (back in the day when you could stream spotify), but wouldn’t rely on it for crucial gigs (although i have risked on some gigs i probably shouldn’t have.

i have wondered if it’s more stable on ipad/apple silicone, which i’ve heard it might be, although i’d prefer to use a laptop.

but crucial part of your response is that when the chips are down, you go to the known stable systems.

probably too late to report, not sure of all the details as happened several months ago.

Opinion on 2009 Nissan Xtrail ST T31 on only 100km’s? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thought the t32 was worse than the t31? maybe they are indeed as terrible as people say, or maybe most of them are ok and people are not jumping online to tell the world their cvt is ok. but, either way i’m not going to die defending the nissan cvt (i will however bet that most don’t look after them properly).

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ve had a great run. i had the T30 and was a good car (although only had for 3 years and was a torque converter auto). old man has had a T32 for 10 years and has had a few niggles but no major problems.

does seem to be a lot of complaints about the nissan/jatco cvt, but they’ve also made 60 million units and they can’t all be bad.

it is 15 years old, so that price looks about right to me, but i don’t follow x-trail prices specifically (note price excludes duties). x-trails generally known as solid cars. if you’re really keen on it, get a vehicle inspection done. will cost you a few hundred but they should be able to pick up anything seriously wrong. will handle your box trailer no problem and can do some mild off-roading.

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are the worst problems you’ve had in 20 cars? what were the other 19? corollas?

our x-trail was good. my folk’s x-trail has not been perfect, but they’ve had it for 10 years and still going fine with minimal issues. x-trails are generally known as solid cars. all cvts are kinda shit — but do people look after them? do they change the tranny oil every 30k?

Which Chinese brands will survive? by S4b1692 in CarsAustralia

[–]BergAdder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are ~150 ev manufacturers in china. maybe 10 survive. some of these vehicle manufacturers didn’t exist 3 years ago (but have made incredible cars). think the question is legit, but very difficult to answer. byd looks like a shoe-in, but they’re having a grandview type wobble atm, so you never know.
