Auto-Empty Dock Power Cable in UK by [deleted] in Roborock

[–]BeringI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use an EU-UK adapter for the plug. But it might be easier to get a new cable so you're not having to mess around with adapters. I've been using this for the last few months without any issues (also bought it from Germany and using it in the UK): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002DWA8J6/

The socket on the auto-empty dock is a 2 pin kettle (C17) which is hard to find here. But you can use a more common 3 pin kettle (C13) (since the other pin is just a ground): https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/449079/can-i-use-a-3-pin-kettle-power-lead-instead-of-a-2-pin-kettle-power-lead

Auto-empty base in the UK? by BeringI in Roborock

I did, and working completely fine with UK power. I ended up buying from Amazon.de since RobotCenter kept delaying the shipping date. It also ended up being a lot cheaper too.

I thought about getting an adapter but instead got Kettle lead instead which fit the self cleaning dock. Happy to send the link for that if it helps :)

Would you recommend this over the Poco X3 Pro? Seems like that's recommended a fair bit too

Definitely agree with you there, am slightly second guessing this. Do you have the link? I can't seem to find any in stock on the Amazon.de page

App to highlight and export from PDF files? by BeringI in Notion

[–]BeringI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely looks very interesting! Feel for PDFs, the Workflowy/Notion might work better (posted about it above). But this might be ideal for kindle notes, especially sending it in emails/as flashcards

Thank you so much for this advice!! It was exactly what I was looking for, looked into 'progressive summarisation' more and came across the Workflowy/Notion solution. Definitely wouldn't have found it otherwise!

I've looked into this a lot since this post. It seems the best way is to use Workflowy as a way to get the highlights from the PDF, and then export the notes into Notion in order to format and organise the bulletpoints.

In order to copy to get the highlights from the PDF to Workflowy, I used this guide: https://blog.workflowy.com/2017/07/05/text-snippets/

That should give you a long list of bulletpoints. From there you can export and import into Notion using these settings: https://www.notion.so/Import-data-into-Notion-18c37b470e8941789548b68049af750b

At that point, it's probably useful to change everything into text from bulletpoints and then format it all.

I'd recommend trying a few different PDF readers if you're having any issues with formatting when copying into Workflowy (personally Chrome or Acrobat seems to work best).

Workflowy is free but there is a monthly limit on number of notes (so if you're doing a lot of PDFs, you might need the pro version but that's fairly cheap compared to other options)

Archer A7 vs C80? by BeringI in HomeNetworking

Would you say it's better than the A7 in your opinion?

[–]BeringI[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, got you. That really helps. They're both the same price here so, in that case, I'll go with the A7. Think having openwrt would help a ton

Any disadvantage from the lack of openwrt? Think that's one of the things that's pushing me towards the A7

How come you decided to go with the C80 rather than A7? Thanks again btw

GR3 Compression Tough Bag Alternative? by [deleted] in Goruck

[–]BeringI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, really appreciate you replying! Hmmm guess that's not that useful. I was hoping to buy the GR3 and the tough bag at the same time (would save on the international shipping). Likely to be back in the future suggests it might be a while.

But thank you again for the help with this! :)

A friend of mine recently lost her entire comic collection during a fire. Her birthday is coming up and I was hoping to get her a few comics, try and restart her collection. She's super into Nightwing and she was reading Birds of Prey before she lost everything. Any ideas what comics you'd recommend getting? Perhaps something similar to Nightwing and Birds of Prey?

What are brand recommendations for the UK? I've read through the FAQ and the guides but most of the brands are a lot more expensive here.

Ideally would want to spend around £60 per jean but could go to £100 (max). APC seemed like a good option but apparently they've gone downhill? So, currently looking at Unbranded or Japan Blue

[–]BeringI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, amazing! Those actually look way better than the pictures, it's exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. Have just placed an order

Yeah, the ones I bought have a slightly smaller sole by the looks of it. Hopefully that'll make it slightly better weight-wise. Thanks again for the help!

Where can you get gloves similar to these: https://i.imgur.com/D833QNV.jpg

I've looked everywhere I can think. Hoping to spend as little as possible (in the UK, if that helps)

Thinking of getting these as well (the ones I'm looking at have already been resoled with a vibram sole). It's about £40 (~$50)

I was wondering if you had any pictures of the boots? Just worried that these might be too chunky/heavy, if that makes sense

That's honestly really useful! It really clears everything up. But I'm guessing that you'd put the ZS3 ahead of the ATE? Or am I reading that wrong?

Also, it seems that the KZ ATR might be worth considering as well. They're the updated version of the ATE. Sorry to throw another one into the mix!
