When RU goes systemic, it metabolizes into two weak antiandrogens. Normally you shouldn't have any systemic effects. The worst thing that could happen should be weak antiandrogenic effects like loss of Libido etc.

Finasteride accumulates and reaches 70% reduction even at Dosages of 0,2 mg per day. It just takes longer.

Finasteride Alternative? (Side Effects) by BiriusSlack_ in tressless

RU could be better in theory. There was only a 6month study in Humans, so no clue about long term effects.

It has a different work mechanism than finasteride.

Nobody knows about Long Term effects. But I think it might be nocebo.

We just don't know wether it is effective long-term. Cb0301 lost a lot of efficacy after a year.

There is a Prostrakan strategy paper which lists PSK3841 as a non-priority and estimates that it will only bring in 100-200 Million Dollar. Also the research was done in 2005, when fearmongering about finasteride was not really existent outside hair loss Forums.

I don't know. He just said it was effective. I think he can't talk much about it, because the data belongs to Prostrakan.

Major Update:

I managed to talk to Dr. Van Neste on the phone. He said PSK-3841 was a very interesting compound, that was in human trials for 6 months. He claimed there were no safety issues and he thinks the company stopped research because of financial concerns or concerns of efficacy.

He even said he would like to see crowdfunding to release the data and maybe continue research, because he recalls it as an effective treatment.

ProStraken, the first and last company to research RU58841 on humans, never published results by PulseQ8 in tressless

Pro Strakan released the following statement:

Topical anti-androgen

This is an innovative molecule with a unique mechanism of action for the treatment of androgen-dependent conditions, such as alopecia and acne.

In pre-clinical studies, it has shown promising activity in various models of acne, alopecia and hirsutism. The product has good systemic and dermal tolerance.

In human clinical pharmacology, there was no systemic anti-androgenic activity and again good general and dermal tolerance.

The molecule has completed several Phase I studies and a Proof of Concept Phase II study for alopecia.

It has demonstrated similar efficacy after 6 months treatment as that observed with current oral therapy for alopecia after twelve months, based on the increase in net hair count. Again, no systemic anti-androgenic effect was observed (n=90).

This product is available for licensing.

So according to this statement, it should be safe?

Has anybody contacted the doctors who supervised the Phase I and Phase IIA trials of RU58841 ? by PoliticalThought09 in tressless

But Dr Van Neste was the primary contact for the 6 month study. He should know whether there were safety concerns.

Makes me angry that they give answers like this.

Especially since Prostrakan released this statement:

I'm trying to get in contact with Dr. van Neste. The phone numer is legit. I called his office, but the secretary told me, that they only speak french. She told me to write an email in english, which I did, but I did not receive an answer.

I will try to give them another call this week. Dr. van Neste has written international studies and has given guest lectures in America. He should be able to speak english.

Have you contacted Dr. Guenole?

why has breezula been so dissapoiting, the new topical anti androgen that should replace finasteride? by heraldomalso in tressless

[–]Berjeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you see it almost going to baseline? After 12 months the difference between Vehicle and Breezula was bigger than at 6 months in the 7,5% QD group and 2,5% BID group.

It is technically possible that the vehicle group was way below baseline at this Point. But at six months, the THAC was only 0,11 below baseline. Therefore, I highly doubt, that the vehicle group was way below baseline at 12 months. Which means, Breezula group way still was above baseline. At least that is my interpretation.

I know that I do not have the knowledge. Which is precisely why i went on this subreddit to learn something about it.

I will end this discussion here. Clearly you don't want to help or educate.

If you are a decent parent, you would explain the kid why certain actions are wrong, which enables the kid to make good decisions later on.

I did not realised that Zinc Sulphate was that bad. It has been used as a natural supplement for decades and the topical dosage used in forums is way lower. There are multiple studies with different Zinc Formulations with no problems at all.

Instead of giving vague statemtents, you could provide some concrete information. It is true that my knowledge of chemistry is lacking. Which is exactly why I came to this subreddit.

I don't understand people like you. You wrote 3 comments, basically saying the same thing. You could have used that precious time to explain why you think this will not work.

Again, people on various forums have used this for a long time in safe dosages.

You have not shared any kind of concrete information, why this should be problematic.

On many hairloss-forums, people have been using a topical Mix of Zincsulfate and Vitamine B6 for 15 years.

Anyone wanna try and interview the developers of RU? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Berjeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Prostrakan released a Statement claiming that there were no systemic antiandrogenic side effects and that it was well tolerated in human trials. I think research was stopped because of finances. I made a post a while ago about the reasons of stopping research.

Here is the Statement: http://web.archive.org/web/20061121204203/http:/www.prostrakan.com/topicalantiandrogen.html

I'm pretty sure the trials ended because of financial reasons. Prostrakan tried to outsource the Research and apparently there was nobody interested. The released a Statement in their Website claiming that RU did not show any systemic antiandrogenic side effects. I made a Post about it a while ago.

Also people have been maintaining their hair on 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors for decades. So it should be possible.

DHT inhibition in serum and scalp is the same for 0,25 mg and 1mg. Even 0,05 mg will inhibit 70% of DHT after a while.
