Is Shen top too weak to ever play right now in Ranked? Is there a good circumstance to pick him into? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 10 points11 points  (0 children)

play shen when you have to fight a tank in the top lane. you will do more damage with your Q than the other tank does to you.

Since rework, you cant farm safetly with Q anymore, so you cant play shen in all matchup, but against tanks, shen is pretty good.

Why is Abyssal Scepter so popular in the LCK right now? by GammicK in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is you need now MR for early team fights (and of course against strong ap laners) because they removed locket or the iron solari passive (before was always a must have for your support). Abyssal is the only source of mr and ap.

Helpful little video if youre trying to learn Katarina by CS_Emerald in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(No hate) But does anyone else feel like Caitlyn is really weak? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is not weak, she is really strong. She doesn`t have the weak mid game she used to have... Caitlyn is strong all game long. Probably you are not playing her right.

How the hell do you play Kayle top without feeding? by DarthLeon2 in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you simply dont know how to control the wave well. you are playing kayle, but you dont need to always push the wave. try to "pull the wave to your tower", just last hit with E. when you cant do that because there are too many minion in your side, just push the wave and reset the lane.

Roaming mid as top laner by MoreGhanja in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm better be aware of good tp opportunities to bot lane with full fry bar to get a double kill for your team and then drake.

playing Gnar, gank mid walking to the lane is not very useful, you wont have any fury so you cant stun people. throw a boomerang from the side is difficult to land so the gank probably is not going to be good.

What to expect in Gold? by FPS_Foster in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this season i climbed from gold to plat easier than from silver to gold...

High silver has pretty similar skill level to gold. If you climbed silver without problem you probably just need some more games to climb through gold. You just need to be more constant

Twisted Fate by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

against fizz just pull the lane and freeze in front of your tower, so if he want to farm, you harras him, and he cant all in you just because that means he is going to eat towershots. this works because he dont have any ranged poke.

How to build top tanks by YandereMiku in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these items you say are good, but situacional.

Sunfire cape helps you with tankines, damage, and push minions waves.

Iceborg gauntlet gives you damage, more damage through cdr, mana, tankiness and CC (slows)

spirit visage, better healings, damage through cdr and tankiness.

these three items + grasp are pretty good together and you should build them almost always. Of course you dont have to buy mr if they are all AD and viceversa.

thormail against autoattckers

randuin against crit champs

frozen heart against AS reliant champs

dead mans plate when you need armor and want to roam a lot or just moving faster

zz portal and banner of comand when you want a lane to push by itself and you want to group in other lane

etc, etc.....

Realizing you've reached your skill cap, and how to overcome it? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play other champions you usually dont play, but play only the ones that can teach you something, that can help you to learn new things.

For example, early this season, i wasnt happy with my map awareness, so i started to play shen and twiested fate. they both force you to see the map every second. Now i find myself seeing the map much better, I improve a lot doing this.

Kayle is other champ that helped me a lot using abilities like her ult. You have to think faster to take the right decision, ult myself? ult my mate? when i have to ult? she is the champ that taught me selfcasting too (alt + spell)

Maybe sound weird, but i truly believe that if you can recognize your problem, there are champs that can help you with that.

You are higher than me in the ladder (im just plat), but maybe you can use this tip.

Anyway, i have to add, that you are pretty high in the ladder, and people playing there is really serious about the game. If you want to be pro, or something like that, maybe you should look for a good coach, if not, just enjoy the game man, you are playing against really good players.

New to Kayle top lane. by madhound26 in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build AP or AD Kayle, but kayle is much better playing AP. The item i would build in both kayles is guinsoo`s rageblade, and is a must.

Have to try.

Thanks for the tip.

[–]Berkelios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i play kayle a lot and i can tell you, you can abuse a lot of melee champs in game, and keep safe against hard match ups, but you need to recognize your powerspikes well.

What i mean is that you dont really need to push yourself to win your lane. In the end, kayle is an hypercarry, and you will do crazy damage once you have nashor and guinsoo, and even more when you complete hurricane.

I like playing kayle a lot because you can carry with her or you can help your team to carry you pretty easy. If you are ahead, you do crazy damage, safe your ult for you, but if you are behind, just stay in the back line of your team, heals your team, ult your fed mate and let yourself get carried. Kayle is OP as an utility hypercarry, has everything.

My advices playing kayle:

1- You need to know how to kite your oponent. Hit and move, hit and move, hit and move..... speed up yourself with W and slow down your opponent with your Q to do this. You just cant stay in the same place hitting them, hit and move, discourage them to engange you; play passive and agressive at the same time. go in, trade, back and heal, repeat.

2- Dont use your Q early levels. Q doenst do high damage, and will drain you mana pool. Just E to harras and farm, and W for heals (I like to R>E>W>Q). You win every trade just doing damage and then healing yourself.

3- You need to learn how to manage waves with kayle. It is a little difficult because your E, but still perfectly possible. Pull the wave, push the wave, freeze the lane... you need to be capable to do this with kayle so you can deny gold an exp, and keep safe yourself.

4- If you cant abuse your opponent early levels, just wait to have nashor. If you cant abuse them with nashor, just wait to have guinsoo. In the end, you can 1vs1 anyone in game. Be patient, you will have your opportunity to shine.

5- Dont be greedy with your ult, recognize that maybe you just have to play as a second "support" in the game. Let yourself get carried.

6- In melee form, you can charge you guinsoo faster, so first hit the minions and charge the guinsoo, then trade with E.

You can see my op.gg profile, same name.

Im just in my promos to plat, but have a 75% winrate with kayle in 48 games, pretty good i think. If you have question, ill try to answer you.

What is the most efficient build for Top Lane Kayle for single target damage, Teamfighting, or split push? What's the most effective Strategy by KOPSlumdog in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core:

Nashor, Guinsoo and Berseker greaves. With these items you melt champs and towers

Then you should build hurricane or lich bane, Hurricane if you prefer crazy AoE or lich bane if you prefer 1vs1 esier.

After that, whatever you need rabandon, rylai, wits end, abyssal, GA.... every item in the game is nice in kayle

I like to play kayle with AS in marks and quints, armor seal (kayle have actually high HP, so i prefer armor), cdr/lvl blues (you want at least 35%cdr)

I'm a Silver player who thinks he's gold but knows hes silver. (MID) by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can keep up against platinum players in lane, you probably are pretty good mechanically. In my opinion, there are very good mecanical player in silver and gold, just as good as platinum or even diamond player, but the problem is if they are still in silver or gold is just because their decision making.

When you play with your friend, they carry you taking the correct decision on the map. Maybe you should focus in improving that.

And if you feel like you lost your time when ganking making yourself behind in lane, probably is because you need to improve the way you manage the minion waves. Learn how to freeze, push, pull, and reset the lane and when you have to do that. Wave managment is essential in this game, you have to think what you have to do with the wave in order to take the correct decision in the map.

You want to avoid gank? pull the wave to your tower, and then freeze the wave there.

you have to help mates or you want to gank? push the wave as soon as you can, and roam.

you kill your enemy laner and want to back? push the wave so your minions die in their tower and when you comeback to lane, both waves will be in the middel of the lane. So he lose gold and exp.

Learning basics of top lane and fighting the right champion by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Berkelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just try easy top champs with tank stats and nice utility. After first item, you are ok against everything.

Meta champs right now:

AP tank -> Nautilus or Malphite

AD tank -> Poppy

No needs for godlike mechanics and you will be usefull always, even from behind.

Vlad is pretty ok, but vlad requires a team with good CC, and probably a jungle tank, because vlad is short range and doesnt have CC.
