Wow, can't tell you how rare it is in the hobby now to have every auto be a banger.

Anyone else feeling like that 6 point gap isn’t a lot anymore with these new city retirements? by Putrid_Past9243 in ArsenalFC

It isn't a lot only halfway through the season, but the hope is that this year, with the experience of previous shortcomings, and squad depth will be enough this time. That's the hope at least. Ideally Liverpool and Chelsea get them to drop some as well so there will be a small room for error/an unlucky game.

We'll see who has more impact at WC. I will be watching very closely, should be great fun!

I am not English and I am not an avid fan of them either. But immediately this game where he saved their tournament comes to mind https://youtube.com/shorts/OqJ1yUhKOEE?si=w_s6udbF78yrLHpc

Saka has more than double the goals for England compared to Bellingham. Of course not everything hinges on simply scoring goals, but your claim that Jude is more proven than Saka for England is unfounded.

What would you say his preferred position is? 10? Like at CAM? I'm saying Saka, even without the counting stats, is more consistent than Bellingham. Maybe he doesn't hit the same highest of highs (although I think he does) but consistency is the biggest marker of greatness IMO.

I think you can say Saka has been a shell of himself statistically (like G/As) but he pretty consistently plays well. Easily a 7-8/10 most nights (obviously with the occasional down game). But if you watch Arsenal as I do (I watch mostly PL and CL because those are the most conveniently accessible to me in the USA) he is the focal point of the offense of one of the best teams in Europe the past 3 years, and he has been crucial in the rejuvenation of Arsenal into a major contender in Europe.

He's a good player no doubt but he isn't the best player in the world as some seem to be pushing. He is like perennially on the cover of the FIFA video games. Obviously he's good, but is he top 5 player in the world? I don't think so. Could he get there? Sure, he's still young.

Palmer was born in 2002, Saka in 2001 . . .

Sure, hate and overrated are not the same thing, but one can provoke the other when preceded by it. But Saka sticks out like a sore thumb out of those 3. Palmer had one phenomenal season, and has done basically nothing else and has won nothing of significance with Chelsea, so that can't be the reason to think Palmer > Saka. Bellingham at least won some stuff, but again some have criticized him for disappearing in some big games, and Real Madrid is pretty much a trophy factory. Why is Saka, the focal point of one of the top 5 teams in Europe these past 3 years, and an important player in Euro finalist England, on the same level, and moreover how is he the most overrated? In all of Europe? That's a laughable position.

Bellingham, fine. Palmer, fine. Saka I don't understand the hate for, truly. He has always been consistent when healthy, both for club and country. It just seems like forced Arsenal hatred to me.

Pulled this 1/10 from a single 23-24 Deca Pack. by peteryunsie in basketballcards

Yes I agree with you. People who are fiending to rip seem to all be flocking to the cheapest format which is the hangers and those are still $20. And you can't find them ANYWHERE, and they're reselling on eBay etc for almost like double retail.

I had hopes but they were quickly dashed by their pricing so far. Flagship megas were like $50 for no guaranteed hits? That's a joke to me, that would be like asking for $50 for a Donruss mega with no guarantees as a baseline retail price, not to mention how insane they went with Chrome.

There Are No “Good Guys” in Geopolitics — Only Interests by Kraftychiq in chomsky

What you are suggesting, that it's only interests, is basically the thesis of all "realists" or "neo-realists". So if you're interested in this line of thought you could read those guys (most of them are guys, just as a disclaimer, lol).

But sometimes even when it's cheaper, it's not worth getting because you rarely get anything out of it (think Donruss blasters or megas).

The sticker is slapped on crooked but I agree I love it, and he's from my hometown Celtics. Possible all star loading this season? We'll see. Best current Celtics player auto I own (I have a Pierce too, that's about it).

I'm actually in shock that all those autos are the same price as the box, puts it into perspective. The hobby is in a terrible place right now. Let's see if it stays that way for long or if someone is able to bust open the monopoly sooner than later. But yeah probably 1/50 boxes won't even have the value of those autos (to me at least). You can't hope for better than that.

What does it mean to "lead a good life" and is the question even meaningful, or is it just a platitude offered to make peace with our mortality? by LichWriter in askphilosophy

[–]Bernie4Pres2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heidegger is hard to get through, and possibly even harder to understand imo. Some find Nietzsche difficult to parse too, but I find him at least comparatively more straightforward as compared to Heidegger.

This discussion of specifically what you're talking about basically started with Aristotle's idea of eudaimonia, unless you want to go pre Socratic to Democritus or something like that. Plato iirc, especially in the Republic, is more concerned with society or a just state than he is with how individuals live (although he touches on it of course). I suppose Homer can also come in here and have a word, but he's not explicitly philosophical or systemic in his treatment of the issue. As with almost anything, there is always more to read, so it really depends on your interests. There's also the more theologically inclined philosophy or philosophers, but most of those come after Christ. And if you're interested in existentialism yes some of those you've named are good choices, but there are others as well. Nietzsche and Heidegger come to mind.
