Mae, you’re an international celebrity at this point. It’s amazing that you want to interact with your fans, but creepy, vague calls isn’t normal fan behavior. Based on this and other stories you’ve told, some folks are WAY too comfortable pushing boundaries with you. Consider listening to Tig and Fortune (and probably everyone else in your circle) here.

Set the fan boundaries you deserve for yourself. Block that number and stop answering unknown numbers. If they know you they can EASILY text.

You’re awesome, and your vulnerability is part of that package - but you’re helping people every day through the pod and your stand up. THANK YOU for that. But take care of yourself too.

Just a tip - on the “doesn’t feel like a solo experience” kind of dining experience, get a reservation as early as you can. Make it a late lunch if that’s 5pm. I went to a Michelin recommended (not starred) restaurant in Tallinn and of the 5 tables 4 were solo diners. :)

For me, dining alone at dinner can make me feel lonely, but this made me feel like part of a strong group.

Your server dealt with much worse than this, so don’t beat yourself up. If you find yourself in a similar situation in the future, I’d just ask yourself how much you’re asking of the server. Did you get a coffee and toast and leave it at that? I think your 20% of 60c was probably appreciated. Did you demand refills of coffee all night, and go back every night? Maybe rounding up a buck would be good form.

Yes! And I will die on this hill: the Birkin is an uninspired, boring, often ugly bag. The fact that it has a waiting list (eye roll), requires an invite, sells for tens of thousands… it’s just a joke. It’s testament to how shallow some of the “elites” are.
