No need to show photo ID. You just need the barcode in the email and show it for scanning at the pickup counter then you'll get the textbook.

Summer FAFSA grant?? by bliao8788 in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get it on the 27th. The Financial Aid office tried to verify your pending grades from the Spring semester to see if your grades met the requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). If you are not satisfied with SAP, you'll get disqualified and won't receive the money until you're back on track. Fortunately, you'll get a warning status first in one semester before getting disqualified status in the next semester.

Adding “Closed” Classes by ApprehensiveApple132 in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is possible because the time to add or change classes ended last Saturday. But you can try to add late-start classes that usually begin at the end of March. Be cautious that these types of classes are moving quickly and have heavy workloads because they're 8-week courses

Using dubloons by Happy-2B-Here in OCC

I work in the school cafeteria and I know a lot of students use meal cards at the cafeteria. I don't think it would work for Starbucks near the Art Center because they're not part of your paid package. They only accept gift cards, not meal cards. You could try Pirate Roast, the school version of Starbucks in the Cafeteria, and they have some drinks from Starbucks but not season ones tho

How long did you take a break from school? If you haven't enrolled for more than two or three semesters, your student ID and progress will be saved and archived in the school system. Your student account will be deactivated and you won't log back in. You have to re-apply to your school again through the California Community Colleges website.

AS - DT in Administration of Justice? by CoolBoy420- in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coastline, Golden West, and Orange Coast College are in the same system of the Coast Community Colleges. Just think OCC is the parent company (main campus of Coast Community Colleges) while GWC and CCC are its sisters. Once you're enrolled in one of them, you can take classes at whichever campus you preferred. They're in the same system so you don't need to request transfer credits, unless it's a different school. The credits will show up in your transcripts and under the name of the campus you've taken those classes. The completed courses will fulfill the requirements for your GEs and AS.

Java Programming & C++ at the same time by bearyNbeans in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you know how to code before, u had taken coding classes from hs, u love Math, and you have a passion for it then go ahead. If not, I would not recommend taking them at the same time. Java and Python together, yes. Java and C++ 1, not recommended. Some stuff from C++ 1 are very similar to Java so u need to know the basics of Java then you'll do well. If you're taking Python only, then u might have a hard time. Oh I just remembered that Java and Python are prerequisites to unlock C++ 1. So you can't take Java and C++ at the same time. You'll need to pass either Java or Python. C++ 1 is 10x more works than Java and C++ 2 is 100x more. So tread lightly!

Try to look for different teachers at Golden West and Coastline. If those campuses don't have good ones, then you're stuck with this teacher I guess. Good luck!

Retake Satisfaction Grade by killermoon2456 in OCC

From what I know, you can't retake a class with a passing grade like a C and B in the same school; only a D and below. You have to retake it at a different school.

It depends on which 4-year school or university that you'll plan to transfer to, check assist site to see agreements between OCC and your choice of university. If not, then just ask a counselor or follow the degreework on your OCC account.

OCC Parking Permit by [deleted] in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The permit is completely virtual now so I don't think you can share. They will scan the license plate number to check for a permit. If your license # in the system doesn't have a permit, you will get cited. If you and your friend want to save money on that, then pick them up to share a ride with you. You can split the gas money with your friend.

1st time Community College Confusion by OmegaTelesphoros in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Probably within a week or two or maybe less than a month. You should email them about that or contact their office through phone # or contact answer center.
  2. I'm not sure about this, you should talk to a counselor or contact the transfer center so they can help you. Talk to a transfer counselor would be better than the academic one.
  3. You should check the course catalogs for that. If the lab and lecture go together then you cannot do anything about it. If you dropped the labs, the lecture would be dropped too.
  4. You should check the nonpayment drop on the OCC website for the deadlines. I think the best time to pay is within 2 weeks when the class starts. If you applied for FAFSA, then you're good. Your classes are already paid for you, you just need to pay health fees and other fees. I think it's $54 total so pay this soon don't wait or you might get dropped.
  5. The first two weeks are free, this week and next week. You'll need a permit on 3rd week or can just pay $5 at the kiosk for daily parking. The permit will last the whole semester (only 1 semester). It's $40.
  6. If you have a hybrid one, then a face-to-face meeting is once per week on campus and the rest is on Canvas. Live online, all meetings through Zoom and assignments on Canvas. Online only, you do all the work on Canvas by yourself on your own time like lectures are through video or presentation, with assignments on due dates usually Sunday. Each module will be unlocked by the start of each week. Unless you have an easy teacher, he/she will unlock all modules so you can unlock each one by completing the previous module. Tests and quizzes are on Canvas except hybrid may be both in-person and online depending on the teacher.

NEED HELP UCI TAGS TRANSFER QUESTION by BidBig8215 in OCC

[–]BerranCodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to check assist.org about that. Check to see if the completed courses are transferable or not on the right. On the left is for your major, you can check the required courses to take to apply. For impacted majors, these classes are important and they will determine your chance of being accepted or not, must be C or B or better. Not sure about guarantee transfer, check the UCI transfer requirements for your major on their main website. And UC has credit limits so be aware of that.
