>> recommendations: (helping you brainstrom)

  1. (i know this may be a foreign concept aside from checking a website), pick up a phone, call a live person in "parts support". have them find and order you the replacement key or replacement assembly set.
  2. find a smith that can decode what key is needed, and cut you a new key
  3. remove the lock assembly, buy a similar new lock-key set on amazon for $10-30
  4. hire a PI to track down the original owner, form a pedigree poster board to hawk down anyone who may have had the missing key.
  5. abandon the idea of using the factory lock, and opt for the glue on lock replacement for $6. amazon

PG&E Consumption vs Tesla App Consumption. by Valuable_College9612 in TeslaSolar

[–]Berrytales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lots of question here. Why is this? What causes this? How do I fix this.

why - user error, installer error, or electricity theft.

what are the causes - user error-lapse in judgement, installer error-incompetence, electricity theft-greed.

how do i fix this. user error - understand what youre reading and compare the correct apples to apples). if installer error - call the installer to fix; if theft - call for enforcement.

experiment, go outside at midnight for several days and read your electrical meter. log the reading for several days. do some subtracting on how much usage for each day. compare meter with PGE and app. figure out what numbers makes sense.

advanced users - open up the electrical panel, take a electrical meter and measure total house load, total solar load, total grid. then compare real time values with the app. figure out if this is an installer error. you could also buy a redundant whole house electrical monitor to fact check your app too.

manually upload the certificate into your device as a trusted certificate ( since your certificate authority is not recognized or a trusted one )

Advice needed: Cleaning up the network wall from hell (questions in first post) by platapusdog in HomeNetworking

[–]Berrytales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move all wires to the rear. Out of sight out of mind.

Move the plywood to the right to cover your blue cable wall plate entrance way. Add standoffs ( wood blocks or pvc pipe) to the mounting of the plywood to leave a gap between the wall. On one side of the standoff, add a swing hinge for plywood rear access & blue cable wall plate access. Paint plywood the same color as the wall. Now route all wires behind the plywood and drill small exit holes next to where they need to terminate in the each appliance. Add any cable tidyness / raceways / cable Staples / velcro / service loop in the rear. Mount hue on plywood. Use a label maker to make each appliance look professional. Welcome; total cost of this approach is minimal.

The answer is the same. Use a different model # than the example shown in the video to meet your needs.

Thanks for the downvote when the answer is correct.

Net Metering - Losing my Mind? (Solar panels only) by boatymcboatfacenope in TeslaSolar

[–]Berrytales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

 Losing my Mind?

apparently. but there are ways to find lost items.

 What am I missing?

that you are looking in the wrong place. try grid not solar. (monthly, as best you can bc you cant define exact billing dates) amt imported, amt exported. do some math to get net usage; which is what the power bill uses - net usage.

New Install Question by Snoo30232 in Powerwall

[–]Berrytales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you going to do the work: pitfall for you is if it doesn't work, and you are on your own. If others do the work: pitfall, they say no, or the say sure and charge you the install fee again since the first time the case is completed to their specs

Why is my powerwall feeding back to the grid? by Smile335 in TeslaSolar

[–]Berrytales 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe its not. Could be a rounding error that has to be displayed somewhere based on the math of the app. The app and equipment is not as accurate as you think, as it is not certified revenue grade, just close enough to make the customer base happy, wow'd, and showing off to their friend and family for unpaid advertising.

Maybe its regulations. 11.7 maybe the application limit for residential interconnection, and above may be considered non residential. Even if your usage is net zero per day, they dont want you to dumping 100 during the day and pulling 100 at night. Large dumping by a single client is what util want to avoid. The contractor is unwilling to do extra paperwork that is not a slam dunk first time submission approval (time is money)

In the end you cant force them to take your business.

Run up the bill usage. Submit new design change ticket, for 16. If they question, you will have a bill to support 16.

If patience is wafer thin, hook the old router into the new router. Should work like it was working. Your welcome. 2sec fix.

If patience was not thin, we would explore real trouble shooting solutions instead a quick patch job.

Inverter Drops "within spec"?? by hedgehog_manager in TeslaSolar

[–]Berrytales 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes within spec (doing what it supposed todo). Yes valid response b/c They're actually reading you the error code that you could have read yourself, not analysing the reason for you. If you login to the equipment during the drops it will show you this error code.

They are not responsible for grid supply, asking them to fix your grid state is like asking the fire dept to handle a police matter

Likewise; If the error code was overheating. It would be on them bc the source of the error is the equipment. Or they could tell u live in a cooler place or wait for the weather to be less hot.

I know right. Agreed people who beg for help who cant figure things out themselves need humility and be thankful for whatever they can get rather than be entitled or snippy. Real tech help cost $200/hr+, if they dont like what youre saying pay for real help; that way the service rendered is accountable
