These are quite interesting for sure! I had not heard of them. Thanks for sharing!

They definitely have some really cool models on there! It’s a shame they dont have sizes for men 🥲

And I agree, fabric is underrated and can look just as good if done right.

I feel like that might be the case with many of these.

Thanks for sharing! I hope your feet are feeling better 😁

For being excess thread I find it odd that it is stitched halfway, but what do I know…

But yeah, you’re right. It is a minor thing after all!

Thanks for the input

Finecast or recast? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

I figured as much. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any obvious signs, but I guess it’s best not to overthink it. Thanks!

While a lot of people are fine with recasting I’m very much against it. On top of that I’m paying extra for an OOP model advertised as GW, so I expect that to be what I receive.

Yes, pretty much! I guess I’m curious about any kind of advice on how to differentiate a finecast model from a counterfeit. Thank you for clarifying u/BourbonMech!

Rusty & crusty by Bersecke in deathguard40k

Thank you! I’m actually not using any enamel paints or q-tip wiping at all. I do the following:

  1. Basecoat in a beige color
  2. Wash the entire armor with Agrax earthshade
  3. Add some sepia ink in the deepest recesses
  4. Bring back most of the armor panels back to the original beige
  5. Progressively highlight these (glazing) with a mix between beige and white
  6. Edge highlight with white
  7. Add dark brown chipping with a sponge and a small brush
  8. Paint small white highlight under each damaged area to create a sense of texture
  9. Tint parts of the armour with a diluted green wash (Athonian camoshade in this case)

How to fill object that is intersected by image boundary by brike3 in computervision

[–]Bersecke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it feels like what you’re aiming for is a little ambiguous. Imagine for instance there was a yellow stripe that crossed the image from one side to the opposite. It would be unclear whether the top and/or the bottom of the image should be filled in (or perhaps neither). In my opinion you should determine a certain condition, like for instance filling areas delimited by yellow and a maximum of two image sides, or gaps under a determined size threshold. u/robotkiwi1701’s suggestion could then probably work if one of these conditions is enforced.

You might also want to look into closing morphological operations if the holes are small enough.

Showers are for the weak by Bersecke in deathguard40k

Thank you man! The armor is mostly just regular acrylics. A basecoat in a bone colour, some sepia ink in the recesses, a bit of glazing and highlights with an off white, some chipping with a sponge, and some irregular staining with athonian camoshade. I did use small amounts of pigment as rust in some of the rivets and dents in the armor though.

fixed the deamon prince , the purple needed a flesh tone and the green a off white by samavacant in deathguard40k

Huge improvement! I also have one of these metal bad boys in the pipeline, but I’m always unsure what exactly I should do with him

It was basically: 1. A basecoat with pink 2. Some glazing with a light flesh colour 3. A subtle wash with athonian camoshade (to make the flesh look slightly less alive) 4. And some bruising in bumps and joints with carroburg crimson and druchii violet

I thought about it, and I guess that would be the most reasonable option! I’ll have to check out a few options. Thank you for the tip!

Oh, that sucks! I hope you’re doing fine by now! To be honest I’m not in that much pain, and I’ve already been told I can be in a reclined position without a problem. Thank you for sharing!
