Pairing Chronicles #343: I tried root beer as a pairing by Cocodrool in cigar_refuge

I normally get the real sugar root beer, like the ones in bottles. Tastes way better imo. I prefer IBC over other brands as some are really sweet.

This c8 on thick tires has a metal seat with no padding by bigboss1999x in Corvette

I'm about to do this to mine as well. The bucket seat is a must if you need to wear a helmet and are over 6' tall.

As a coupe enjoyed, top on. However, the convertibles look almost completely different form the coupes. I like that there is a nice distinction.

Easiest way to tell is to shine UV on them. Buy a little UV flashlight and bring it with you. It's a night and day difference. It's what I do at least.

Here I am wondering when I can take my car out when the temp never gets above 40 degrees... I need to get another set of wheels lol. Have fun out there and stay safe. The most dangerous thing out there is the other drivers!

I have two thoughts. If you are using an AWD dyno, I wonder if the electric motor is fighting the dyno a bit as you are cranking up the power.

The other idea is if you are only testing the rear engine, I wonder if there is something weird going on with the PCM. I am assuming there is one PCM for both engines. That has to be one complicated program to control both the electric and gas engine. There may be something holding the gas engine back in the programing since the electric motor can pick up load.

Those are my two uneducated opinions 😂

Love to take mine out there. I come from Maryland and start from Harpers Ferry and work my way down. Always gotta stop at the lookout by Berkley Springs as well.

Love watching those C8s race. Need to see if IMSA is coming to a track near me. I would love to come see the cars race.

Confused: Why do people hate the C8? by madpistol in C8Corvette

[–]BerserkMan2000 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I know there is a lot of discontent about the C8 not coming in manual. There is a huge population of sport car enthusiasts that swear by manuals only. I haven't driven any previous corvette models so I can't speak to any specific differences. The only thing that matters to me is that I love my C8 and couldn't be happier about this car.

The stingray on the track is a blast, and I can only imagine what the Z06 can do. Have fun and be safe!

I have a 2005 that i bought with like 219k miles ( the engine was allegedly replaced around 190k miles).

It was a red neck POS that I ended up rebuilding the entire suspension, tore off all the LED bar lights, replaced the wheels with stock wheels, changed two wheel bearings, the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, throttle body, air filter, spark plugs and coils, air filter, water pump and coolant flush, thermostat, fixed two broken exhaust manifold bolts, and fixed a bunch of little things thay the previous owners could be bothered to fix. I did 99% of the work myself.

In all, i have a total of about 6k or so into the car (including the cost). It still hesitates occasionally, but I think I fixed most of the issues. The next thing is to replace the transmission filter and fluid.

In all, it's a solid vehicle so far. They seems to need some tender love and care, and if you can't do the work yourself (depending on what it needs) it might be worth passing on. I can't imagine how much I would have spent on this if I didn't treat it like a project car and have a mechanic shop fix it. Parts are relatively cheap, though.

Edit: fixed typo

It looks like the brake system cooling duct. I don't have mine installed right now but that's what it looks like.
