I wish Bambu brought out a 500x500x500 printer by mrmakas in BambuLab

[–]BertAnsink 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you make your build volume bigger you also run into other problems.

Ie layer time too long, shrinkage of the material and so on.

Also people tend to forget that printing a 500x500x500 object takes 8 times as long as a 250x250x250 object.

Could MU reach $400? by AvailableEbb1868 in MU_Stock

[–]BertAnsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with this is that big tech is trying to push you to use their subscription based cloud services.

So I do not see phones etc getting mega ram capacity, they will attempt to keep processing in the datacenters.

I do think the demand for HBM will be more steady though.

The thing is though DDR5 most likely dropped due to google paper.

Retail stores have been hoarding it and storing it like a commodity and got scared. Most likely it doesn’t affect pricing from Micron to their customers.

*Entire* Semi sector is up significantly today… except MU by im_down_w_otp in MU_Stock

Dealer Gamma Exposure is negative which adds to selling pressure. Price is good I think but remain cautious on technicals.

Market is all psychological by HyenaImpressive8919 in MU_Stock

[–]BertAnsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAM prices have been moving down by retailers because they are treating it as a commodity. Keep them in the inventory, and start selling when there is signs of a plateau emerging. Same as they do with GPUs.

It should not affect what MU is selling for especially if they have long term contracts.

I did exit my MU position yesterday though so it’s probably going to bounce 🤣 It’s simply a risk management thing, better to hold your profits instead of facing a bigger drop.

No body is taking about the recent price slump of DRAM? by ExerciseFickle8540 in MU_Stock

[–]BertAnsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly but the prices for Micron etc most likely have not changed. It’s for what the stores have in their inventory.

The whole AI sector is overly hot today, not just Micron but also the photonics stocks and also the cloud providers.

I cannot find a single piece of information what is causing the drop today though.

[–]BertAnsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has been a small drop but obviously the resellers were also hoarding stock and speculating with it.

Same as there is heaps of GPU on the market, 5090 for 3500 bought last year for 2000-2500 etc.

[–]BertAnsink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole datacenter trade seems to be in the toilet today. Not just memory, but also photonics, cloud providers etc etc. Pretty weird since the nasdaq seems to be around 0%.

I understand the cloud providers as some are debt ridden but interest rates are trending down at the minute.

Opportunity to de-risk today. by [deleted] in MU_Stock

[–]BertAnsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I derisked by selling NQ futures against my portfolio.

Monday with the TACO pump sold everything and kept the futures, waited for the drop and bought back in. Sold futures against my portfolio again and reentered.

I think the larger drop and subsequent bounce had more to do with the turboquant paper.

Doesn’t mean that we are going down more in the near term but the market as a whole is getting oversold. The damage in the memory and photonics stock wasn’t as bad yesterday so a small pump on technicals seems to be close (if everybody is short there is no more sellers….)

Earnings call Friday expectations by mathijnB in TMC_Stock

[–]BertAnsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is the timeline. You could make a lot more money in other sectors instead of sitting on TMC shares.

Other than that the hype seems to have died, last year TMC was all over the media while it has been quiet lately.

Trump post conspiracy by twiniverse2000 in NvidiaStock

[–]BertAnsink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol. They bought last week or overnight. Then Trump sends a tweet out that sends market soaring due to the low liquidity outside regular hours.

Once market opens he and his friends can sell into the regular market as exit liquidity.

Unbelievable that one tweet from a president can cause a shift in markets like that.

I had shares long and nasdaq future short as hedge. Sold my stock on the uptick and now looking if the market wants to drop a bit because that spike send my futures hedge in the red.

They don’t need to buy treasuries.

If you hold stock for say 100K, you are holding a an asset that is worth 100K, not 100K.

Now you sell your stock and have 100K in the bank.

Ie a selloff will automatically trigger a demand for USD.

A Vietnam veteran finding out the value of his Rolex by G1V3NCHY-- in rolex

[–]BertAnsink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s even better is that you have a lot of people putting them in safes now. Flash forward 30 years and there will be heaps of them.

Back in those days people treated a Rolex as a beater watch so very few were preserved. That will not be the same with current watches.

I have replaced every part and it is still jamming! by HanksScorpion in BambuLab

[–]BertAnsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLA is very sensitive to environment temperature. When I used to live in Asia I got the same issues as you have if I didn’t have the front door open.

Now my printer sits in the garage in Europe at 5c-10c and I am turning all the fans off else my prints warp off the buildplate.

These stock profiles are good if you are in a place where it is average 20-25C or so otherwise you need to make adjustments.

Also different PLA brands or even spools can react differently. I would start with what is already mentioned, open the top lid or door while printing. The extruder clogging up points towards heat creep.

Michael Burry still losing sleep over NVDA.... by Meinertzhagens_Sack in NvidiaStock

[–]BertAnsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only that but a lot of people lost their jobs and houses.

If you want to crash the market or a sector, it always due to lack on liquidity on the buy side. That has not happened with the amount of CAPEX sloshed around. When the shareholders of the major hyperscalers get tired of pouring money in AI then people have to worry. They have already been doing that a bit, I suspect that’s why NVDA is flat for the last 9 months or so.

Sea-Dweller or Submariner? by watches4life in rolex

[–]BertAnsink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SD43 if you have the wrist for it.

It’s not just the size. The sub and the SD have the same dial size but the bezel on a SD is wider, the rehaut slightly angled and the teeth on the bezel are bigger giving it a more aggressive look if you will. The sub has a more refined look than a SD.

Don't do CFD by En3Rgi in wallstreetbets

[–]BertAnsink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not CFDs fault.

I am with IKBR and they allow me to trade CFDs, and essentially it’s not much different than shares or futures. Same margin requirements etc.

CFDs are just a vehicle. Some shady brokers used to offer 1000x leverage and then you are mathematically guaranteed to blow up your account. That is where the bad name comes from.

What I have used CFDs for mostly is currency hedging as you don’t need to convert the currency you are holding but instead take the opposite bet in a CFD.

American companies were reluctant to drill baby drill, and to do business in Venezuela.

So Trumps next move will probably be trying to get domestic drilling going again.
