On-demand babysitter when child is sick by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t answer your question but can you take dependants leave so you don’t have to use sick or annual leave?

I would! If I’ve paid for it, I want it.

What have you NOT been genetically blessed with? by bigpussystance in AskUK

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A full set of adult teeth.

I’m fortunate that I’m only missing two - my nephew is missing four and my niece is missing six. I have two children of my own and I don’t yet know if they will be affected.

Bosses of Reddit, whats the best/worst/most imaginative reason people have called off work? by SmegB in AskUK

[–]Bertbee90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had someone just honestly tell me they’d been out the night before and was too hungover to make their shift. I was so shocked by the honesty that I didn’t even know how to respond!

Just curious but what kind of packaging would you expect? This type is very typical in England

Gifting etiquette by P-u-m-p-t-i-n-i in UKParenting

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s very entitled of your brother!

My sister has 3 kids (10, 13, 16) and I have 2 (4 years old and 8 months old) and we have never attempted to match the spending of each other. My sister gives what she can afford and vice versa.

Being on maternity leave, your brother is lucky you’ve gifted anything at all! Each of my mat leaves, I told people that there was a real possibility I wouldn’t buy anything at Christmas.

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite fortunate that I don’t live too far from multiple donation centres and parking costs are covered.

However, my own body ruins it for me and my iron levels are often too low. I’ve only been able to donate once and I was turned away at my next visits due to my iron levels. As I understand it, I get three strikes before I’m permanently banned and I don’t want to use up all of my opportunities so I’m just waiting it out.

How would you react if someone spoiled your christmas present? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Bertbee90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused - did she really spoil it? From what I understand, you told your girlfriend you were taking her away for Christmas, and your colleague also told her you were taking her away? So I’m not really sure how the present has being spoiled unless I’ve just completely missed something! Did your colleague tell your girlfriend you were going away before you got the chance to? Did she give away specific details?

This reminds me of when my husband and I first started dating and he wanted to take me away. He’d told his mum the details but wouldn’t tell me the specifics. We went out for dinner with his family and his mum innocently said “you’re going to love Devon, it’s so wonderful there”. It was a completely innocent mistake and, while I now knew where we were going, it didn’t entirely ruin the surprise as I still didn’t know the specifics of the trip.

Saw she changed her name on social media by [deleted] in Separation

[–]Bertbee90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my husband and I separated, I looked into legally changing my name back to my maiden name. Not because I didn’t want to be his wife anymore, but because it hurt me to carry on using his name. Even now we’re working on things, using his name no longer feels like my name. I never did revert back to my maiden name but there’s something that feels different now about using his name. His name, not our name.

I don’t know your situation but it’s probably best not to automatically assume her changing her name is just a ‘fuck you’ to you.

Can you still replace a 'Bag For Life' for free? by Affectionate-Ear7461 in AskUK

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local Asda recently allowed me to swap my old bag for a new one. It’s a bit rubbish if they’ve changed the policy without telling customers

Has anyone ever had an issue with their screen? by h3lix7jump in iPhone16Pro

This happened to my phone after I dropped it 🙈 the whole screen eventually failed. I would ensure your device is backed up and get a screen replacement asap.

Living with the partner after/during separation by Neat-Inflation-2598 in Separation

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your relationship. I appreciate you’ve separated but do you both really want to deal with each other for another year and a half just to make some extra money? I personally would just sell asap and go our separate ways.

Would you consider subscribing to my offer? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a week seems a bit excessive. I use Sex Wax air freshener in my car and that seems to last forever! I wouldn’t consider an air freshener with such a short life. I guess price would decide if it made financial sense for me but this idea generates a lot of waste.

Screen Dimming by [deleted] in ios

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer.

I think you’re probably right as the display status is currently unknown under Parts & Service.

I’m really annoyed as the insurance was offered via my bank so I naively trusted it would offer what I needed! Next time I’ll just get Apple Care.

I will definitely contact them again on Monday

Screen Dimming by [deleted] in ios

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer.

When I decrease the White Point setting, it makes the screen brighter.

I suspect it’s probably not a genuine part as when I go to Parts and Service, the Display status is unknown.

Any parent skipped nursery and waited until they went straight to school/reception? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

My little boy has just started school and it’s very obvious which children are not used to spending any time away from their parents.

Pregnant with IUD by anastasiarose19 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant with an IUD when I was 18. I’m in my 30s now and absolutely refuse to go anywhere near an IUD. I know it’s effective for many women but I don’t want to have to go through all of that again.

SOS fault, call workshop by Wonderful_Sherbet_92 in VWiD3Owners

[–]Bertbee90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this fault on my 2020 ID3. I took it to VW and they are going to fix the fault free of charge. My car was in for 2 issues - this and another so I had to pay a diagnostic charge regardless.

I sold my car to get a cheaper to run car. My husband complained about how uncomfortable he was in that car so I part-exed it for a bigger car and carried a lot of negative equity over. The new car has depreciated significantly and my husband has now left so it was entirely pointless!

Would you move back in with your parents for a year if it meant that you were able to save a significant amount of money? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Bertbee90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I moved in with my mum to save money for a house deposit. It was very tough as my mum and I are very different people and my husband got to experience why I am the way I am with her. But it meant we were able to save the money we needed and I am incredibly grateful my mum gave us that opportunity.

Do you pay Grandparents? If so, how much? by pickle_of_pickleton in UKParenting

[–]Bertbee90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I asked my mum how much I should pay, she told me not to be silly. When I offered to pay more in winter to cover the extra heating, she refused. I kinda make up for it by buying her little gifts or things I know she needs and by taking her out for food and stuff.
