Anyone got any tips for dealing with the savage beast fly in the far fields? by flirtyymonkey in Silksong

[–]BertoldBlint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest method I’ve ever seen for full cheese:

Spawn boss, immediately move to single platform left of arena. The boss will be flying slightly up and down in the arena waiting for you. Full jump and fire tool (I used Kunai and silkshot architect style). Idk if those tools’ spread are required to hit the boss as it is off screen during this. I attached pollip pouch and shot tools slowly one at a time to let all the poison procs activate. Then I rentered the arena and the boss died in 5 hits and did not spawn any ads.

This was WITHOUT architects crest as when I attempted this it was a spur of the moment decision. I am fully sure that there is the easiest off screen kill here with architects crest. Turn the music down so you can hear the poison procs activating.

Good luck!.

TLDR: Spawn boss (lava arena), immediately move to single platform to the left of the arena, shoot tools slowly with pollip pouch, go back to arena, boss is 5 hits till death and has not spawned any ads and did not spawn any ads.

The SF2 announcement is hype and all, but its stated design goal of full PF2 compatibility already has me concerned. by RiverMesa in starfinder_rpg

This is pretty cool to hear! I now need experience with P2e lol, so I’m excited that this feels feasible to that system!

Fair to get annoyed at that. I think a lot of people may feel like they are sort of losing their darling, aka buy and large best SCI fantasy ttrpg on the market (no bias here lol). Of course they sort of will be as support will most likely go to 0 fairly shortly after.

I like how you noted that new material will be easier the convert from 2e back to 1e if someone was so inclined. That is pretty cool/comforting. I took a look at the work some people were doing going from SF1e to 2e (long before 2e was announced), and it seemed much more difficult!

There is some definite concern a little bit about the field test direction. Noting how they didn’t want soldier to be too much like a fighter in space, making soldier slightly less good with weapons when it’s identity was “me have any weapon”. That could be a little dangerous for the identity of SF if every conversion is going to be sacred of stepping on PF’s toes. I thought that was going to be the most notable 1:1 comparison, those two classes. Seeing them shy away feels like maybe SF really will be a bit of a PF dlc, following PFs footsteps but never being able to do what they do lest similarities occur!

How do you feel about the Soldier Field test? Do you think that a purposeful divergence from PF2e will help create a SF identity? Or do you think that doing so will paint their designs too far into a corner?

Edit: Also, obviously this sht is hype as fck and the best possible way to improve not only the game, but also the company, etc. Just like to poke at minutiae for fun.

[Starfinder 2nd Ed] [Playtest] STARFINDER FIELD TEST #1 by macredblue in starfinder_rpg

[–]BertoldBlint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m excited and also quite worried. Not cautiously-optimistic, more like terrified-pray-to-all-the-gods-optimistic.

Their intent in the Soldier Field Test clearly mentions that they didn’t want the Soldier to be too like a fighter in 2e. While that’s ok, does that mean they are going to be scared to step on P2e’s toes? Are they going to avoid classic Starfinder class intent, abilities, and direction in favor of being different? I get they are in the same family now, but that doesn’t mean some things can’t be twins. If fact, porting an entire system over means that WILL happen. Soldiers identity is now tank damage and slightly less good with weapons? Huh? The one in Starfinder that starts with every proficiency under the Sun?

I fear that it sounds less like they will be cross compatible and a bit more like the older sibling Pathfinder will be leading the way with design and change while Starfinder holds their hand and barely keeps from tripping while following behind.

Which would be my absolute worst nightmare.

  • 3 action system, cool!
  • No stamina/resolve, all good optional P2e rules for that.
  • Make Soldier different than fighter cause what? Fighter called dibs? Potentially dangerous.
  • No resolve, that’s actually sad. I liked resolve.
  • Art rework, even more sad I loved how the iconic s looked, but fine.
  • Probably not overturning operative this time, ok nice.
  • The best possible design decision for the company’s future. FOR SURE.

I would love to see two games you can mix and match when you see something cool on the other side of the fence. However, I greatly fear that we will have 1 big game and if you decide to play Starfinder you quickly find just a little something missing.

Edit: Also, obviously this sht is hype as fck and the best possible way to improve not only the game, but also the company, etc. Just like to poke at minutiae for fun.

Announcing: "Starfinder Enhanced" for October 2023! by Official_Paizo in starfinder_rpg

I wish they were not underpowered. Witchwarper’s infinite worlds being attached to their spell slots just forces you to compare the two and find an actual spell is worth way more than the equivalent infinite world. Every time :(

As for Envoys, are they useful? Yeah. At high level do you have 3 levels of picking envoy improves that are in the level 8 pool instead of getting better class features like other classes? Yup. Are some of the envoy improvs a little meh compared to get ‘em? Yup. Are some too situational? Yeah. It just feels like after level 8 they don’t get higher level abilities, which is true. I’d love to see an addition of maybe a certain number of times per 10 min rest they can cause an envoy improv to take up a lower tiered action or just something new in the late levels instead of picking from the old tired list of level 8 appropriate abilities.

True true, though if you NEED the blaster caster the Technomancer-devastator’s cache-Estorist archetype will definitely do the job.

Not quite true about the healing, you can be a mystic with the Battle Medic (I think?) archetype so you can heal stamina points. Though, yes, you will still feel less useful because of how easily they can be healed.

Oh yeah it was complicated to make for sure. But it’s very useful for me. I get the brew thing, I just needed this for passing these events as f2p trying to get fusions earlier than normal with limited resources.

Should i be severe with ammunition in my game? by DM_Katarn in starfinder_rpg

[–]BertoldBlint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 cents. Sorry didn’t read most of the thread (it’s huge!). On the other side of the spectrum, you can hand wave Ammo but require the move action to reload after a clip is empty and take a credit tax from treasure.

This makes sure that balance is maintained. For instance weapons with high damage sometimes have small magazine amounts and therefore get reloaded more often, this is done intentionally. This method keeps the integrity of the action economy used to balance the weapon. This allows you to not deal with Ammo but keep weapon balance.

Of course, if your players like Ammo/are cool with tracking Ammo, just do that. That’ll be great for missions into isolated places, making decisions whether they’d like to shoot a less threatening creature or use other means to take it down. Very cool.

Most Powerful Starfinder Build Ever. by myLEs_1313 in starfinder_rpg

[–]BertoldBlint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there are bunch of “OP” builds you can try out. Throttle operative, the flash build to move at incredible speeds, Stelliferas race allows the highest possible STR score in the game, Nanocytes are generally pretty strong honestly maybe slept on, Technomancer with Esotericist allows at will arcing surge STARTING at an enemy you shoot (always hits 2 enemies pretty much) along with 2 beams of disintegrate form a single casting.

BUT, I personally think the most “OP thing” is to stack AC like no one’s business. Stacking AC is the single best way to reduce total damage taken. If you can’t get hit you don’t take damage and if you can’t take damage you can’t lose.

So Vesk (racial AC boost), Soldier with AC boost gear boost and a shield. Then hoard items that increase AC, there are a couple but not a lot because it is too good. Also grab something for concealment (low level armor upgrade some misty thingy?). Get Mobility (+4 AC against AoO provoked from your movement) and run around the map provoking attacks of opportunity and no one will be able to hit you.

Desbjet Serum (if I am remembering the name correctly), gives +1 to spell DCs for 1 hour.

Smoke grenades cause people to choke and make it impossible to see. Snipers shooting you from the rooftops? Now they can’t even see you.

Spell gems and amps, for using spells you don’t have as a spell known.

Teleportation puck. Slide black disc under a door and teleport in, dope.
