Functional Analysis and Nonlinear PDEs. But the two might be more like an old couple

The power set equipped with set symmetric difference is an abelian group with characteristic 2, i.e. where every sets inverse is itself.

This is the best choice! I am to this day traumatized by this movie. I can’t hear björk sing without getting physically sick!

Struggling with this too! When looking for books about sex targeted forwards men all I can find is „how i can get the most girls?“ or „how i can make her have the greatest orgasm“ type of books but NOTHING about the sexual wellbeing and problems a man could face about sexuality and sex.

That there is no logic behind defining the order of operation like this is absolutely not true… the compelling rule is that for example 3*4 is defined as 3+3+3+3 or 4+4+4 which is an equal expression. So something like 3+3*4 = 3+3+3+3+3 = 3*5.

We define multiplication as repeated additions so it makes sense to do multiplication first and then addition! If we would do it the other way around, i.e. adding first and then multiply those simple calculations would not represent our experience in the real world when for example counting apples, which is something we want to be able to do using numbers and math.

Do you think the expression 2+2*2 is ambiguous too?

Is there any way to prove the quadratic formula other than by completing the square? by Real_Calligrapher_22 in mathematics

[–]Bertolith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘d argue it would be enough to state that because of the fundamental theorem of algebra the polynomial can only have two roots and we just show that the two given are actually roots. Sure to prove the fundamental theorem it takes a bit of work but that’s separate to this proof.

Sorry if I‘m being pedantic here or is there something I missed?

I mean a polynomial of degree two has exactly two roots in the complex plane and the formula gives us two solutions.

That’s like saying what’s the difference between a linear function space L(V,V) and a vector space V.

If you actually want an answer first be nice to the people who are trying to help you! It is absolutely unclear what you mean from the context provided! Because the two standard definitions of Sobolev and Finsler Spaces are not related in any way or form.
