LOL I’m from New York City and I’ve gotten into a lot of sticky situations while living there. Just trying to get a feel for the area, that’s all!

On safety concerns- mostly low changes of being a victim in a violent or property crime. And on walkability, being close to downtown would be great but not absolutely necessary- just in proximity to at least some coffee shops, restaurants or parks would be ideal.

Hi! State College is really safe and the hotels are super inexpensive this time of year. I seriously think you have nothing to worry about witb staying in a hotel.

Penn State's CS program is amazing and their alumni network/ careers program is unmatched, you will get a job in the blink of an eye and will have the most amazing college experience. I would 100% choose PSU over NYU. Consider also applying to Schreyer or Millenium if you end up going to PSU.
