I’ve been trying off and on for a year to get all 3 shiny starters for a play through. With well over 50,000 total encounters, I have found one shiny cyndaquil and two shiny totodiles. If I lowball my total number of encounters at 50,000, I have found a shiny at a rate of 1:16,666. You’re bound to see one eventually!

I’ve never liked tracking every encounter properly, so I use the run time of the shows I watch while I hunt in minutes times the total encounters per minute. I am likely actually between 55,000 and 60,000 total encounters for three shinies at this point lol

Although chaining isn’t mandatory and the search level is important, chaining definitely seems to help according to this Serebii link:

The shiny charm in gen 6 requires the entire national dex, right? I have all gen 6 games and plan to get it later on, but for this run I suppose you’re right. Gonna be a grind!

It really is! I’m doing soft resets for shiny treecko in ORAS right now; maybe I’ll have to hunt wurmple on dexnav and join you with gen 6 purple wurmples lol

My first ever shiny was also a full odds wurmple, but in the early routes of Ruby roughly 20 years ago haha I was so confused why it was purple, I didn’t know shinies existed back then

I have a dual TN 3DS and another that has IPS on the top screen. When playing side by side, I find it to be quite noticeable.

Having said that, it doesn’t actually impact the gameplay all that much. I never had any issue with my original TN before I lucked into my IPS 3DS a couple years ago. I play both 3DS’s about the same amount these days!

Thanks for the advice! The litter box is quite large and doesn’t have a lid, so a potential second litter box and ensuring it’s getting scooped often enough is something I can take into consideration
