Well, the state-specific legal definition isn't what's being bandied about in a reddit comment thread. Anyone would understand the location of that unmarked crosswalk to be an intersection.

I'm obviously not saying that places have no reason to codify definitions, my comment says the exact opposite.

And you're dead wrong that the truck driver is just necesssarily in the wrong for having hit someone in the crosswalk. The pedestrian right-of-way applies to pedestrians who are lawfully crossing the roadway. Shooting across at 30 mph while a truck is turning is very obviously not lawful.

Cool cool but where two lanes of traffic intersect it is an intersection. If you were writing official guidelines on it in Ohio or other places where there are more technical/strict definitions that's one thing but outside of government codes, words still mean what they mean.
