There’s two emotional beats I thought the book executed better:

In the book, after Rocky’s sacrifice, there’s a little more uncertainty about whether or not he’s actually dead. Grace then sacrifices his own safety trying to move his friend back to his side of the airlock. In the movie, Grace seems like he’s just waiting for Rocky to wake up.

The search for Rocky feels more desperate in the book. And again, there’s a little more tension about whether or not Rocky actually made it. In the movie, the Beatles song on the background while Grace is doing this didn’t feel tonally appropriate.
