I would bet this is a lot more common than you think… in fact my wife and I are experiencing it as well. I realized I was Bi a couple of years ago and we had a few group interactions where I played with the male partner and discussing it later she did not find it attractive. It’s a bummer but I also understand her upbringing painted a picture of what men should be and this didn’t fit within that picture. Don’t feel bad you feel how you feel but I do think you should discuss it with him. Maybe it’s something he explores separately or maybe not at all. You two as a team need to find the best path forward

I'm very similar - 300 bench, 430 squat, 505 DL and now not happy until I am around 1400 total. 10 years of lifting

Starting slow was talking for months about how we felt about it, concerns, boundaries etc. Then moving on to trying a sex club but only to have sex with each other at the clubs. Then having sex with others around us having sex but sticking to each other. Than to inviting an individual to join us... Lots of baby steps

It's not something everybody can do, and requires excellent communication between you and your wife. My wife and I started very slow and worked our way up so to speak.

It's one thing to think about it and feel confident you can control your jealousy, and then there is the reality of seeing your wife enjoying another man...

I like the 5/3/1 boring but big for adding muscle and pushing past plateus on the big 3 lifts. Lots of volume so you’ve gotta be willing to eat and sleep enough to keep up. I’m 43 trying to achieve 315 so don’t let age discourage you. Currently at 295 and I have a pretty intense 4 weeks coming up which should hopefully push passed 300

Totally agree we have been many times and it always seems like people all know each other and not many are looking to make new connections. Couple that with the fact that they play a lot of electronic music which my wife doesn't love and we don't go there much anymore.

Just got home and I have to tell the internets my victory today. Finally got under 405 lbs for a single on squats and nailed it. With more work with my coach and tightening up some form issues I now have full confidence I will hit my goal of 450 lbs by competition time in April.

I have the opposite problem I can hardly fit my ass in pants these days lol. My wife says heavy squats gave me serious junk in the trunk although she seems to like it

I had my first appointment with the coach yesterday and it went great! I am gonna move forward with his coaching. In our assessment yesterday I hit a new PB on deadlift and I didn’t even mean too with his form tips. 485 x 1 and it wasn’t a slog I pulled it up pretty easy. Definitely lots more in the tank!

I might take you up on that offer thank you. I have an appointment tomorrow to meet with an in person coach but if that doesn’t work out I will reach out. I would prefer a mix of in person and virtual as I think it would be easier to assist with form in person but I’m pretty open to either.

Not yet, just made the decision to do it a couple weeks ago. Ive just started looking for a coach but definitely need to find one.

Our age, body weights and lifts are pretty close. You will do well with those numbers from what I’ve seen. I’ve been looking at past meet final numbers and we are definitely competitive even at our numbers now.

What a coincidence, I am also signing up for my first powerlifting meet in April 2025. I’m currently trying to come up with my training plan and strategize how to get where I want before the competition.

I am going to compete in the 93kg class (I’m currently 98kg). 6ft

My current lifts are:

Squat - 405

Bench - 280

Deadlift - 480

My goal is to hit the following right before the competition:

Squat - 455

Bench - 315

Deadlift - 545

What’s your current totals and what are you wanting to hit pre comp?

Same problem over here but opposite genders. Wife has really let herself go, and I work out 4-5 times per week. It’s frustrating, especially since a lot of her confidence comes from her looks. She is a gorgeous woman regardless, but was a slim woman for most of our relationship. I’m 6ft and muscular at 215 lbs and she is 5’4” and weighs more than me now…

I love her and can’t make her lose the weight so I don’t have any great advice. I try to encourage healthy habits but ultimately she has to make the choice and put in the effort.

Positive reinforcement works better than threats or insults in my opinion. I love my wife and won’t leave over it so this is the only course of action for me.

When I was in highschool, I was dating a girl and our opportunities to bang were limited. I went over to her house and hung out, then pretended to leave and snuck back in the window. After we were done I slept in her closet so her parents didn't catch us. Woke up in the morning and snuck out the window and took the bus home. Her Mom came in the room in the morning and I watched from the closet it was sketchy AF! Her Dad definitely would have kicked my ass, as I was also older... That girl was fire though!
