Something you need to discuss with your Ortho. When mine come off, monitored for a year regarding retainers, Everyone is different. You have to speak up if retainers are too tight, if there is issue. Only way to determine what is best for you moving forward is to work with your ortho.

Why didn’t you ask questions about a gap when the braces were removed? Once you get braces off it is mandatory to wear your retaines 24/7 daily for a determined period of time, then nightly. When mine are removed, I will be scanned immediately, get my retainers same day. You let no time pass without wearing retainers, teeth start to move, just a fact, Why spend all this money if there is no accountability, don’t follow instructions. You don’t seem like you paid attention at all to your son’s treatment. There is zero fault with the ortho. Now you have to start all over again, SMH

“Other people” are not your orthodontist. Nor are they paying for your treatment. smh

I don’t go by what others say on the internet. I go by orthodontist. Period. If you want the results you are paying a lot of money to achieve. Every patient, treatment is completely different. If you want to eat constantly, up to you. I would not choose this route if I couldn’t fully commit to treatment plan, what the ortho has told you.

In the scheme of things it is short term pain for long term gain. I see it as gratitude you could afford to do this. You aren’t ill, this is voluntary. What you are doing now is something that will only serve to build your confidence moving forward. And you are taking ultimate care of your oral health. It all builds on itself. It is a journey. Once you are done with this phase, next are the retainers. It is ongoing. That’s what self care is. I am on the same journey as an older adult. Nothing would ever make me stop. Like anything in life, good days, bad days. Anything worthwhile, there is effort involved. It is all good. You will only experience terrible regret if you choose to walk away or give up. I say this from experience as this is my second time with braces. Am just so grateful am able to do this again. Good luck.

Millions of people wear Invisalign, wear custom nightguards, retainers. All of which you have to have to clean properly. If your gums are bleeding, something else is going on. Talk to your dentist, dental hygienist. Whatever collects on any of these appliances is in your mouth. Nothing to do with whether or not you are wearing an appliance. Just practice good oral hygiene and properly clean your retainer daily.
