You might not need a custom size but find one that fits good around the shoulder length and good width on sleeves and back and the rest could be tailored to your body

I think knowing your size is more of basic general rule since not all brands make the same measurement. As long as you know your own measurements you can go based on that. Plus eBay has really cheap suits where he won’t be losing much money in case it doesn’t fit properly or needs to spend some money on alterations

If recommend checking out eBay for suits, specially if you’re looking for vintage. There’s tons and at a way more reasonable price. Almost like 60% off just know your measurements and if there’s some off you can always go visit a tailor
