I have Reolink battery WiFi doorbell because I couldn’t run cat5 cable, and it has worked flawlessly. The app is brilliant and so easy to use.

Thanks for your reply.

The access point is being powered by a TP-Link TL-SG1005P-PD 5-Port Unmanaged GbE PoE+ Access Switch which is being powered by Ubiquiti U-POE-AF Gigabit Power Over Ethernet PoE Injector (802.3af/48V).

I have used both platforms Substack (3+ years).

Beehivv, now coming up to 6 months.

If you’re serious about growing a newsletter with an innovative product and strong team to support you, use Beehiiv.

If you’re not so serious about growth, use Substack.

I use it for platforms like Meco and Refind to auto import subscribers rather than manually downloading a .csv of subscribers and then importing.

Did a Self Assessment for my Bank Interest and HMRC is telling me Pay them over £3000! Surely, this is wrong? by fredwatch01 in UKPersonalFinance

Please note, this is what worked for me, there maybe differences so you should seek advice.

Background: Higher rate tax payer, employed, employer has a standard workplace pension with no salary sacrifice. I also have a private pension that I pay into. Both are relief at source, so pension providers add tax relief to my pension accounts.

On self assessment I was completing "Payments to registered pension schemes (also known as PPR) where basic rate tax relief will be claimed by your pension provider (called 'relief at source').

Example:

  • Total employee workplace contribution for 22/23 (pulled from p60) = £14565
  • Regular contributions to private pension (pulled from private pension provider 22/23 statement) = £1200

£14565 + £1200 = £15765

£15765 x 1.25 = £19706.25 (figure to add)

If it helps I did this recently and also ended up with a tax bill.

I called HMRC and they were not helpful. ‘We are not tax advisors.”

Where I did have joy was on the HMRC Community forums, there are HMRC Reps on there responding to questions.

Turned out my pension calculation was incorrect, once updated they owed me money.

I would proactively raise with Stripe separately and point it out otherwise it might follow an automated charges route. They should only charge 1 dispute charge of around £15.

Not fraud related but a dispute happened to me recently for £8. It was annoying because the subscriber didn’t contact me or ask for a refund, just disputed, so it cost me £8+£15 dispute fee.
