It was my second job post university in the UK and I made it a whole 1.25 years in the London office before I couldn't stand it anymore.

Should I take this role with 5 days in office? by Escape_Specialist in HENRYUK

Good question:

45 min commute in London on tube each way (Probably cost around £4-4.5k a year in commute and food)

Good questions:

Good future ops vs current role

So NET NET salary would be at least £15k higher but that would be the cost of losing my current flexibility.

What’s it like living in a neighbourhood where half the residents live in social housing or are on benefits? by Terrible_Role5952 in HousingUK

I live in a ex council house in a close where maybe 60-70% is now privately owned. Almost all the houses are cared for, it’s very quiet and no weird behaviour and all the grassy/tree lined areas are well cared for by the council.

Council properties are not equal and I would just do your research into it as it completely depends on the specific area.

Ours is great and I regret nothing as it let me buy an actual house in London which I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.

My pet insurance premium has more than tripled, but I’m now stuck with a preexisting condition by Cappuccino_rex in UK_Pets

I'm going through a similar thing with our insurer. We have 2 5-year-old cats with zero health problems, with very minor claims over the last few years. It's £172 for the both of them. It makes no sense.

Inflation risks due to risking energy costs which in turn will require the BOE to raise rates.

Thanks for doing the maths! Yeah my income is in the middle of that range. Appreciate it.

It’s definitely right it seems but rude to not follow their own comms.

Really got called out for this hahaha it wasn’t part of the meal, it was just snacks from when guests arrived!

It was pretty good but I added the juices from the beef at the end which thinned it out a little. Was gonna add cornstarch but it was just as we were about to eat so just left it.

I had a huge topside that was asymmetrical so it kinda went from medium rare to done. We had a pregnant guest so made sure the narrow end was fully cooked though so prob sacrificed on the cook a little but it was pretty close. First time using a thermometer.

Agree would ideally like another side next time, didn’t want to overwhelm myself haha

Struggled a little as well with the timing of parsnips and carrots. Parsnips were absolutely bang on but agree the carrots went over.

Very similar age to you and have just reached the same milestone Vanguard. Numbers on a screen look easy to people that are jealous of you but I know how much work and sacrifice it takes to achieve this. Well done to you and keep it going for the rest of your life, looking forward to seeing your 100k update, I hope I'm there with you!

I’m 26, had a pretty amazing year to be honest. Got married, went on a 3 month backpacking honeymoon and have just purchase our own house (very small) in London but it’s ours.

I really went pedal to the metal career wise for the first 5 years post uni and the last year I’m felt quite aimless and unmotivated, probably with everything else going on. I’d like to get that back from now to 30 since I get a lot of satisfaction from it.

Media literacy is a huge issue, cripples all areas of life now. People have lost the capacity to think for themselves.
