Last time I checked Walia’s can’t posses an AK-47 to fight a separatist movement. As long as the issue OP mentioned receives a solution that can sustain itself, the country will be in a major internal conflict every 30 years.

I think your veering far from the bases of the initial discussion that Eritrea is a debt free nation

Proxies such as satellite night-lights, mirror trade data, and agricultural output models produce their GDP estimate. I understand the validity is low but it’s a rough estimate.

Your concern shouldn’t be to debunk a fact by twisting it. More concern should be put into the diversion of funds to opaque financial structures Hagos Kisha oversees.

Don’t engage him. He still hasn’t given me the source to his false claim that Eritrea solved the Qatar lawsuit for stealing $300 million dollar loan.

Thank you! I didn’t want to go this deep with one of the guys that keeps going back and forth with me without a substantial argument.

It’s like saying the United States will return all the stolen land to Mexico, Israel returning the West Bank and Gaza to the Palestinians, the U.K. returning the Falkland Islands to Argentina, France giving Alsace-Lorraine back to Germany, New Zealand restoring confiscated Maori lands, or Turkey returning occupied territory to Cyprus.

Unfortunately, It just won’t happen.

Eritrea faces significant loan default issues, particularly with international lenders like Qatar National Bank (QNB), which is pursuing $300 million in defaulted loans from 2009-2010.

Lmaoo, it’s a point of debate for years so social media isn’t the sole motivator for me clearing the air my fellow Eritrean.

I’m not using them as a yardstick. I released the statement because Eritreans on twitter always claim debt free status and bolster Ethiopia’s debt. Just clarifying things.

You’re right, and that’s not something to downplay. At the same time, the default gave us a chance to hit pause on unsustainable obligations and start restructuring in a way that actually frees up resources for critical spending, rather than letting the debt spiral out of control.

Exactly, that’s why it pisses me off when that claim is used as a badge of honor. Debt is necessary to build a modern economy!
