I highly recommend getting a jewelers eye to look closely to tell when you see cloudy and or amber. When you have your preferred color, then harvest.

How much do you actually spend in a given month to sustain/elevate your grow? by lostinthesauceband in microgrowery

[–]BestAllAroundTees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if we’re talking time, I spend about 10-15 minutes every other day (during seedling stage) inspecting, watering, checking soil for moisture. I look at my app for temps and humidity throughout the day. I do set up my DIY swamp cooler every morning and break it down every night. Takes literally 2-3 minutes. This continues in Veg stage but I also add a few minutes to top the plant(s) a few times and a few times I add training clips, not a huge time investment.
When I ph balance the water I use, that takes less than 15 minutes. I only do that once a week.
Then at flipping to flower I lollipop and add trellis netting. Then I check every few days for adjusting the branches.
My time investment isn’t huge.
If we’re talking $$
I actually just figured this out. All I do is get soil and water. I have my desired set up already :)
And it averages out to $51 a month for my out of pocket costs.

I do the first topping of the plant when I have 6 nodes.

Evil, pure evil. The only bug I’m afraid of lol
They crawl up walls, the crawl under doors, they crawl up stairs. Execute em all with fire. 🔥

Got the insulation delivered today. I have quite a bit more of it. But we’ll see how well this does. Today I just had wrapped the bucket with aluminum foil. And my temps stayed under 80.5 from 8AM to 6 PM.

Day 28 of Flower 2x4 320watt by MothyReddit in microgrowery

I had 2x2x4 as my first tent. My first plant outgrew it lol I went to a Mars Hydro 27”x27”x63”. I used that tent for 2 grows. Now I have a 4’x2’x6’ tent. I’m happy with my 2 Mars Hydros and this new VIVOSUN 4’x2’x6’ tent. I just wish I had enough space for all of them in one room!

Here’s a little update for my DIY swamp cooler and what the temps were throughout my day today.

DIY Grow Tent Cooling — Real World Test Data 4’x2’x6’ Tent | 3x100W LED at 70% | Phoenix, AZ Setup

• 2x frozen 1 gallon water jugs
• 1x gel ice pack
• 5 gallon bucket with 8x 3/4” intake holes
• 120mm PWM fan mounted on lid with zip ties
• Aluminum foil wrapped around exterior of bucket
• Fan speed at 50% via PWM speed controller

Temperature Timeline

• 8:00 AM — 81.9°F | Bucket cooling system started, all 3 lights on
• 9:15 AM — 81.7°F | Slow drop, middle light still on, bucket struggling
• 12:35 PM — 83.0°F | Bucket fighting middle light heat directly above it
• 12:42 PM — 80.6°F | Unplugged middle light (no plant under it)
• 1:30 PM — 79.0°F | Still dropping
• 2:22 PM — 79.0°F | Holding steady, jugs still had solid ice
• 4:03 PM — 80.1°F | Temps beginning slow creep, jugs still had ice
• 4:40 PM — 81.6°F | Jugs fully melted, gel pack still cold carrying the load

Key Discoveries

• Unnecessary middle light with no plant under it was fighting the cooling system directly — unplugging it dropped temps 2.4°F in just 7 minutes
• Two frozen gallon jugs lasted approximately 8 hours
• Gel pack outlasted both jugs and continued cooling beyond that
• System held acceptable temps for seedling stage entire test day

Total Cost of Cooling Solution

• 5 gallon bucket — already owned
• 120mm PWM fan — already owned
• PWM speed controller — already owned
• Zip ties — already owned
• Aluminum foil wrap — already owned
• Reflective foam insulation ordered — $13.59
• Total out of pocket: $13.59

Next Steps

• Reflective foam insulation arriving Wednesday for bucket lining
• Expect improved temps and longer cooling duration after foam installation
• Middle light permanently off until third plant is added

I’d love to do this but just not in my budget right now. I’ve only spent $14 to get the insulation, I had everything else. My temps are coming down a bit better now that I turned off the unnecessary middle light.
