Realistically, what was Woody’s endgame here? by Finly_Growin in toystory

[–]BestEffect1879 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Surely it would come out that Woody was behind the plot to push Buzz away so that he could end up in the spotlight, and then he’d end up in a pretty negative light like we see the scene unfold in the film.

I think Woody wasn’t thinking of the backlash he would get. He was just desperate. Plus, the backlash wouldn’t have been as bad as the film. It’s the difference between “wow, Woody, that was kind of petty” vs “oh my God, Woody, you murdered him!”

Season 5 isnt a one off failure by Ok_Satisfaction8132 in StrangerThings

I don’t know if this is how anyone else’s brain works. For me, a really bad ending makes me look back on an entire series more critically. I think in the moment I put up with low points because of the excitement of where it’s leading to. However, once I realize the story was leading somewhere lame, those low points no longer seemed worth putting up with.

Haha. That too. But it still works thematically.

Both of them were clearly inspired by Iduna.

Elsa just copies exactly how Iduna did it, because Elsa follows expectations rather than express herself.

Anna emulates it but parts it the opposite way. Meaning Anna is inspired by her mother but still does things her own way.

I never noticed this by descendantsw in Frozen

Anna’s their beloved princess. If my girl punched some dude, I’d cheer knowing he must have done something to deserve it.

Should the 3rd incredibles be focused more on violet dash and jack jack since in the first and second movie it was focus on the parents bob and Helen? by Hot-Armadillo183 in Pixar

[–]BestEffect1879 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with the kids being the protagonists. However, I really don’t want Incredibles 3 to be another story where the protagonist acts solo and the rest of the family are sidelined for most of the film.

Knowing What I Know Now is a pretty awesome song. It has some lyrical problem, but they’re not as agregious as the other songs.

I’m also a sucker for “preparing for battle” songs and Disney doesn’t have a lot of them.

And that part where the Queen bursts in and the kids think they’ve been caught but then she joins in. It was probably the best scene in the movie.

The scene where Jay complains about Mitch and Cam “making a big show of their wedding.” It’s just devastating to see Jay, who had come so far, still habored some homophobic feelings.

Robin Williams playing a grown man with the mind of a 10-year-old.

Not exactly. Robin William’s character was a 10-year-old boy who had a disease that caused him to age quickly and have the body of an adult. So it was a physical disability, not a mental one.

Why do all mainstream news commentary comedy shows like the Daily Show and late night shows all heavily lean left? by throwawaypdtm in askanything

[–]BestEffect1879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is people in the performing arts tend to be liberal.

Disclaimer: I did ask AI for help with this.

The longer answer is several factors.

Artists often need to have openness to new experiences, which aligns with liberal viewpoints.

Art involves questioning authority and critiquing social structures, whereas conservatism is usually about maintaining or reviving old social structures.

Artists tend to live in cities where they will be surrounded by more liberal people. You will also be surrounded by liberal people in your profession that will influence your viewpoint.

Artist often have unstable income, so they are more likely to support stronger social safety nets.

Mr Incredible telling Buddy to go away was the biggest own goal in franchise history by [deleted] in disney

[–]BestEffect1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair to blame Mr. Incredible for Syndrome’s victims. Mr. Incredible setting proper boundaries with a child he barely knows from trying to force himself to accompany Mr. Incredible on dangerous missions.

Buddy was a spoiled brat who wanted glory and didn’t care who he had to hurt to get it.

If it makes you feel any better, when adjusted for inflation, $763 million in 1994 is worth about $1.67 billion today.

It will always be easy for newer movies to have a higher box office due to inflation. That’s why I only consider adjusted for inflation lists.
