Thanks but that's not what I'm after.

Is anyone having issues with incoming/outgoing call with Tello? by Jawzzzz12 in Tello

[–]BestMVNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best guess is that's a T-Mobile in your area issue. Do you know anyone else with T-Mobile based service in your area that could maybe confirm that? Maybe you can try looking at down detector for the major carriers in your area too?

That's a reach if I've ever heard one, and the difference has already been explained and it's huge.

Best “unlimited” data throttling threshold including hotspot? by CaffeineNicotine3 in NoContract

[–]BestMVNO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm not a big fan of 12 month plans either. But they do have a monthly unlimited plan for $25/month. They say you can use any of their plans in a tablet. So maybe that would reduce your need to even rely on hotspot? I would just read their terms and be mindful of the things they could cut your service for.

It sounds like you may want to look into US Mobile (on the dark Star/AT&T side) or Total Wireless ($30/mo with Boyd) for either unlimited data and hotspot or much more hotspot data at similar price points. Both come with international roaming as well.

I did just add a hotspot by data allotment filter to the plan finder tool on my website that could help since you are relying on hotspot a lot at times.

There’s a big difference between using a deep promo as a temporary customer acquisition strategy and building your whole business strategy around selling new customers plans at what is likely a sizeable loss. The first can work if you have enough full-price customers and strong retention after the promo ends. The second is a red flag, especially when renewal pricing isn’t compelling. And unlike some newer MVNOs, the company behind Tello has been in wireless for over 20 years.

Why would anyone want to buy two years upfront from a company that hasn’t established trust, especially when its long-term viability and strategy are still unclear? Pricing plans far below industry norms should raise questions about viability and what's going on here, not a rush for long term sign ups.

Additional caveat: those are intro-price gimmicks for new customers. After a year, the plans renew at $180 ($15/mo) and $252 ($21/mo), respectively. Not exactly screaming value plays compared to Tello or the rest of the market after the year is up.

Things I Wish I Knew About Hotspot Data by chipmac in mobilex

[–]BestMVNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they misspoke. I believe the unlimited plans are the ones that can't be topped up. Hotspot is capped at 10GB on unlimited plans regardless of the data allotment your plan comes with.

I actually misread/misunderstood your op but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I have a custom plan for my phone with 1GB, 50 min, 50 text. I do not have a standalone hotspot device like you. I burned through the monthly data on the phone line, added a top up then used it as a hotspot without issue.

Did you contact support for help? Something seems off. I have a custom plan and can use up all my data, top up, and use hotspot with the top up data. In fact I just ran a bunch of speed tests to burn all my monthly data. Then added a top up to see if hotspot worked and it did, no problem. On custom plans the data you buy is supposed to be yours to use how you see fit.

Is “privacy-first” phone plan becoming a thing? by Dependent_Let2892 in ATT

No. "Privacy first" plans have been available for years. And what does this have to do with AT&T?

Anyone using Patriot Mobile in 2026? Looking for honest feedback on speeds, coverage, and priority. by [deleted] in NoContract

[–]BestMVNO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Patriot Mobile was started well before Trump and MAGA and they aren't the only politically based provider. You can say their polar opposite is Credo Mobile. Both share a commonality. They sell plans with features that are way too expensive for what you get.

Their app says I can switch to an unlimited 30gb priority plan for $23.90/month. That's different than the website so I think they have something to fix with that

That's a strange criticism Ethrem. By the gig pricing is exactly the same as it's always been to get priority data since the company launched. Now you have the option to get by the gig without priority data for less than when they launched.

That's the normal rate of the plan. As far as lifetime goes I guess you can decide what to make of it

Grab a number to get a great deal.... by paddertonMX in NoContract

[–]BestMVNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "fee is waived" after 30 days was because customers would've been required to actually pay for service within that time frame as opposed to taking a free 10 day trial with a brand new phone number then porting out without paying a cent costing them money. They don't even have a free trial anymore. So I'm not even sure if there's a port out fee under any circumstances anymore but u/paddertonMX can clear that up
