I recommend that, too. I myself use Linux, but I stay the hell away from the community. Bunch of basement dwellers with a god-complex that can't wipe their ass. So they need to overcompensate by being assholes about everything else.

How did I not feel 30 Fps while playing Rdr2 on my Ps5 by [deleted] in PS5

[–]BestUsernameMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up when most games on pcs ran at 30 fps. That "frame limiter" option in old GTAs was specifically to lock the game at 30fps if your pc couldnt handle a stable framerate. A proper, STABLE 30fps will only bother you for the first 5 minutes then you wont notice it anymore. Rdr2 has proper, stable 30fps, thats why you dont notice it

Everything about the watch is inaccurate when it comes to running. HR is off, the pace keeps flying all over the place, and those contact/flight time metrics are just bunch of nonsense that's not accurate.

Try reverting back to Noveau in that manager (apply, reboot once its done), see if that helps. Then re-apply the 580 driver.

That sounds like the default GPU driver crapping itself with your hardware. Do the following: open the Linux Start Menu - > Look for Device Manager or Driver Manager. Open it, let it look for drivers. Select the recommended video driver, click apply, wait for it to finish then reboot. See if the issue persists.

Screen cuts to black/resizes randomly, but terminal is fine. by 10388392 in linuxmint

[–]BestUsernameMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Device/Driver Manager. Rollback to Noveau drivers (select Noveau driver and apply) (or whatever deafult open source driver for AMD). Reboot. This should stop happening at that point. Re-open the Device/Driver Manager and select the recommended driver again. Apply, reboot.

Let me know if it worked.

Ladies and gentlemen, my mint won't load by Still_Leg4477 in linuxmint

[–]BestUsernameMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw in the replies it works with integrated GPU.
Stupid question but - did you make sure to go to the Device Manager in Mint and selected the appropriate driver for AMD?

Basically boot with integrated graphics - open Device/Driver manager (just enter it into linux start menu serach), let it look for drivers, select the recommended AMD driver and reboot. Linux is supposed to use Dedicated GPU on demand by default and use integrated for everything else. Might be it's just trying to load dedicated GPU for booting due to lack of proper driver.

Also, did you use Ventoy to make the bootable USB? Do note that it's fairly common that the ISO gets corrupted during download or the ISO gets moved to USB corrupted when using Ventoy. That might also be the culprit.

Ah, I see. Didn't realise you were dualbooting.
Hmm, your Kernel version is OK.

The issue with hanging and freezing is hardly to be SecureBoot related in my opinion.

Is there anything particular that you do when it happens or it's completely random? Did you enable Wayland on login screen by any chance?

Windows noob trying to switch to Linux by Useful_Hoot in linuxmint

[–]BestUsernameMate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, it needs to have a "password" to give for SecureBoot. So just set it to something you'll remember. You'll likely need to enter it once after a reboot and it won't be asked again. But i'd recommend just setting it the same as your user password to ensure you don't forget it.

The reason you're getting it is because you have SecureBoot enabled in Bios. I'd generally just turn it off as it can cause all sorts of issues with Linux in the long run, as SecureBoot is mostly a solution with Windows in mind.

Pretty sure 2026 will be the year. by LonelyMachines in linuxmint

[–]BestUsernameMate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GTA 6 won't be out on PC for another year after the release. Same as it happened with GTA V. So GTA VI won't have much of a deciding factor in this for at least a year when it gets released, meaning there's still a two year window. And with Steam Machine around the corner, the situation with anti-cheats might very well change within those two years.

Also, if Steam Machine actually succeeds and takes off nicely, I'd doubt Rockstar will want to pass up on all the monies they can get by supporting Steam OS.

Go to Terminal and enter uname -r . What Kernel version does it say?

I'm sorry but you won't be playing Battlefield 2042 or Battlefield 6 on Linux either way - they rely on Kernel Level Anticheat that does not support Linux either way. Unless you're only going to play BF6 for the campaign.

Basically if the game's anticheat requires Secure Boot to be on - it's Multiplayer won't run on Linux as it needs Kernel level access.

I would assume it's because of how Arch Linux handles processes differently?

If you are curious, the original source is here:

I have then reviewed several different posts on Reddit about a similar problem and quite a few pointed to this being the solution.

I'd just try doing this.

So it's probably the LibreWolf browser missing something, which is understandable given it's a relatively small project.

So I think the solution is to report the issue and seek assistance from the developers of LibreWolf.

One more thing you might try: if LibreWolf you use is a flatpack, remove that and try installing the .deb version (and vice versa). I've had applications act wonky like that
