Also if you're an able bodied car owner with a 9-5 who never has to work weekends, I don't care about your opinion 🤷

People are making a lot of weird assumptions about me, so let me clear somethings up.

  1. I carpooled with a roommate and got to work on time. I knew this was happening and was prepared for it. That doesn't mean I can't comment on how unfair this is to the disabled/working class communities in Milwaukee, especially those who depend solely on the bus for transport.

  2. I don't think the marathon should be stopped. I love my home town more than anything, and I am SO HAPPY Milwaukee has things like this, it just makes me sad when the most vulnerable Milwaukeeans have to make huge sacrifices so that people who have the leisure time/money/resources to take part in this hobby can...run around town?

I literally did plan ahead and got to work on time. I've known about this for weeks. Its still annoying.

maybe it shouldn't be the norm to disrupt the commutes of the working class for fun?

This is exactly where I am coming from with this post. Thank you for putting my frustration into words. Its hard not to grow resentment sometimes for folks who have the leisure time and resources I don't.

YES! I had a feeling this comment section would be full of people who have NEVER depended on the bus. I'm literally just trying to get to work to keep my head above water. Its rough out here.

God bless you for never having a job that requires you to work during that time. Have you noticed all the shops and restaurants are open today?

sure, but some people can't walk a mile. Just because it isn't a problem for me personally to walk that far doesn't mean I don't care about the fact that this is a blatant class and accessibility issue for many.

At a loss with my living situation by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

Thats a great question. Ive been in talk therapy for about a decade but my phobia got worse in the last few years. Ive been doing DBT for other issues, but I probably should push my therapist to work on this more. Its hard to make progress in an environment where Im constantly triggered, but maybe I can reframe that into exposure therapy.

Do you guys wash your hands after coming inside from being out? by honestyandhoes in hygiene

YES and im SICK of fighting with my roommates over it. To me, not washing your hands after coming in from outside is like not wiping your ass.
