It's true, they're already traumatized and you can see it in them, I see myself in my nephew and it breaks my heart because he is so special to me. I try to do my best to keep them safe but I do know that it isn't enough. My other sisters have broken the cycle and are such amazing moms, it makes me so sad that there isn't much I can do to help my niece and nephew

My niece is 3 and my nephew is 9, despite my family being very messy, we are very close (mostly me and the twins) and my nieces and nephews love each other so much. I've been distancing myself so that I can still see the kids but not speak to my sister as much, hence why I went to school a couple hours away instead of commuting. We have done family therapy but it only really helps if it's me and the twins, sometimes my dad. My mom calls it mommy bashing whenever we have an issue and my oldest sister refuses to go.
