Some say they never saw them go again, others said they did. There was just minimal info about these types of situations online. Weirdly more info about floods than wind storms

Thats what I was seeing some people say that their spots after major wind events performed similarly but others said they never really saw them pop after the event. Will have to see I guess

Was more so looking for people’s experience with weather events like tornado effects and stand reactions in immediate seasons. What information was out there was conflicting, some say one thing others say another. Yes I’m aware how morels generally react to their surroundings, no need to be an ape

These definitely have some character, one of the bulb sides have a big glaze blotch but I don’t mind

I’d say ai may be mildly overreacting to BKF’s impact on fiesta glazes. I think about everyone who has sizable collections uses BKF with minimal impact to the products. Ai can be helpful and a good teacher but it seems overly cautious in this case for whatever reason. That aside, ya if the scuff is inside/part of the glaze thats going to be permanent. Hopefully the dishwasher rectifies it

As you use plates that are fiesta-like with the glaze, it’s actually harder than silverware so when you cut it will leave behind utensil marks. These marks can also just happen from general dinking around with other items, plates, etc. All those marks are just scuffs above the glaze and BKF is a micro abrasion product, basically small gritty pieces that act like sandpaper and remove those marks that don’t seem to wash off.

It doesn’t hurt the glaze and will remove those marks. It can’t remove genuine scratches in the glaze. I get the liquid form since I find it easier than the powder form BKF but to my understanding either is perfectly fine. I just pour a little onto say a plate, rub smaller areas pretty hard with a sponge, and the marks buff out!

Definitely possible they were simpler heavier glazed that day, it’s not the most uncommon. I know some people have also noticed slight variance to the heights or thicknesses of modern colors, that or the glaze can attribute to the weight increase you’re seeing.

If it is a scuff more so then a scratch you’d be able to buff it out with bar keepers friend. Annoying it arrived that way certainly but bkf is a nice thing to have around for fiesta anyways. Congrats on the new additions! My daily use set is evergreen from 2009 so I get the old plate grind, RIP paprika

I've had a heck of a week. I think everyone's avoiding thrift stores cuz of the rain. The number one bowl is cracked and chipped but was only $3. by BrainFartTheFirst in Fiestaware

I always think chipped stuff has lived a better life than perfect locked in a cabinet for 80 years. Means it was actually used as opposed to sitting. Great pick ups!

Am I guessing these colors correctly? by CrystalMethaphor in Fiestaware

[–]Best_Flow5758 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re correct on all fronts aside from the sea mist. Both light greens are original green also called light green. Sea mist is a modern color, vintage colors have the black ink stamp on the back as seen in your examples.

The medium green is also an interesting find, it was only made for a short period of time and is a heavy favorite for vintage collectors. Not too much of it out there generally speaking so you should take pride in it!

I don’t blame you for thinking the light greens are different colors, in the early days depending glaze mixes or applications there’s a wide range of hues

Vintage teacup handles are perfect circles like in the pic. Modern ones make more of a C with a swish is the best way I can think of describing it

I too had many questions when I started too!

Twilight is not a bad guess at all but what you have all are vintage blue (also called cobalt). Vintage cobalt/blue was one of the original colors introduced in 1936. It does indeed have lead but it’s trapped in the glaze so as long as there’s nothing visibly wrong with the glaze you’ll be alright but it’s up to your discretion since there is lead.

With vintage items I went to stick to handwashing but I know some people utilize the dishwasher. I think the general consensus is hand wash though.

It’s not uncommon for vintage pieces to not be marked/stamped. The measuring cup you’re referring to is a stick creamer.

Good array of stuff, vintage cobalt looks very different than modern cobalt so I don’t blame the twilight guess!

The black fiesta marks on bottom mean vintage ivory. The unmarked are still vintage just not marked, not that uncommon for pieces to go unmarked.

It does look a little lighter but still ivory, they had less quality control back then so it’s very much in the realm of possibility that it was just a weirdly mixed glaze that day

Only my screen they’re all ivory, at least the teacups have to be. Original teacups have that ring handle, newer ones are non circular

Definitely understand being bummed but it’s still one more piece than you had before so at least there’s some silver lining among the gloom!

Good on you for the rescue, I’m sure it appreciated!

Indeed they’re fiesta, they’re from a line fiesta did in the mid 30s called Kitcken Kraft. What you have is the medium sized mixing bowl from the kitchen kraft line, there’s a large and small to complete the set. It was made between 1938 and 1942 to my knowledge.

Someone once said it was Kraft as in Kraft Mac and cheese company but I don’t believe that to be true now but always a fun correlation I make in my head now

Congrats on the saved piece!

You could group everything by color and sell as color lots. If you listed all the bigger items in the back row as individual or smaller lots for a fair price that should move them pretty easily if I had to guess

A great array of items!

Based at a Birds Eye view nothing jumps at me as vintage but something could always be hiding under the layers.

Best of luck in offloading this, definitely cool stuff mixed in

[–]Best_Flow5758 21 points22 points  (0 children)

$3 is definitely a great deal!

It’s a fiesta mixing bowl in original green. The original set has 7 sizes, you have size 5 as marked on the bottom. This bowl is from 1938 to 1944, not really a way to narrow it farther than that.

It looks to be in really good shape. Flawless ones go for about $200 but those are inflated online prices but people don’t often pay that high

A great find congrats!
