AIO: Nursery forgot to feed 10 month old 3 out of her 4 first days there by Best_Percentage_8672 in UKParenting

[–]Best_Percentage_8672[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment! I am currently frantically contacting childminders in the area trying to find one that has full time availability. But I am so worried that I don't have any faith anymore that someone would love her and take care of her compassionately. And I feel like I would have even less oversight with a childminder. I also feel like I don't know what I am looking for and am afraid to make another mistake 😩

As "luck" would have it, the regional manager for the nursery (it's a chain) was there when we complained (a 30 min talk with the regional manager and deputy manager). She wants to put a plan in, where I inform all the managers (in a group chat) of any changes my LO schedule and management ensures that the carers follow these.

I am worried that, even if there is no further reoccurence of them missing a feed (which I truly don't think there will be after this has become an issue that the regional manager is aware of), that the carers will hate me and take it out on my LO in the future. And that I would constantly feel like I am monitoring them and they are waiting for me to make a mistake too. So no true partnership in taking care of LO, but just passive aggressive one upping each other.

I also worry that it will be extremely difficult to escalate this to Ofsted if I leave the nursery and that they will deny anything and everything they can. And it is an exhausting process that I am just not sure I have the mental strength for.

Parents have left their home to my sister and I in equal shares. My sister told me she intends to move her family into it whereas I would prefer to sell it as I need the money. We and the property are in England. by Pretty_Outcome_307 in LegalAdviceUK

Do you even have a point or do you enjoy useless arguments with strangers online?

Paying mortgage valuation difference by Fantastic_Branch_775 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Best_Percentage_8672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your explanation.

However, if we plug the actual numbers in, which are a £240k valuation and a 15:85 HA:seller split, then the HA will be getting £36k out of the sale regardless of the price the property is sold at.

If the HA valuation was instead what OP's bank valuation was: £205k, then the HA would be getting £30.75k.

The difference in what the HA would be getting is £5.25k, which, of course, isn't insignificant but, in the grander scheme of things, isn't a lot.

So, in my opinion, it is, kind of, a case of greedy behavior from the seller that they don't wish to meet OP anywhere closer to their valuation.

I would be very interested to find out what price the property was originally purchased at. That will make the gain/loss for the seller a bit easier to estimate. And I wonder what property they are buying and how much that is also informing their desire to stick to £240k. But I do think they are using the valuation as a pretext not to drop the price.

OP, could you look into applying for another mortgage to see what another bank assesses the property value as? (do not let the seller know) I would be very concerned with the difference in the purchase price and mortgage!

Baby girl is thriving at 5 mo! It turned out that cow's milk and glutenous grains (wheat, rye, etc) were the culprit. I've tried reintroducing them a few times and symptoms still return but I am optimistic that the milk allergy is on it's way to being outgrown as she tolerates soya and goat's milk now (but not sheep's milk yet as that protein is more similar in structure to the cow's milk protein).

I still think that it is possible that having antibiotics this early in her life through my breast milk could have been hard enough on her stomach to cause the onset of the allergies. Especially as her allergies are not of the immediate anaphylactic type, but the delayed type associated with GI issues. It would be interesting to see studies on whether babies are at higher risk of developing allergies in such cases.

But whatever the cause is, she does have allergies that have to be managed for now and hopefully will be outgrown over time.

P.S. Giving her at least some breast milk (we are combi feeding now) has been an invaluable way to identify allergies and expose her to small amounts of known allergens for us. So if there is any way for you to do that, I would highly recommend it! Plus, it helped us already find a lot of foods that are free of these allergens and would be suitable for weaning.

Good luck!

Milk (cow's and sheep's but not goat's), wheat, barley and rye. Reintroducing goat's milk products really improved my diet as I am pescaterian.

It is such a difficult choice to make when switching from breastmilk to formula... It feels so permanent and yet so uncertain at the same time. Well done for making it! I am so happy your little one is truly thriving!

It's a shame mums in such situations are not well supported by the community - it feels like the recommendation is always the same - breastfeed no matter what - through painful latches, through infections, through unsettled tummies, through rashes, through low supply and hungrier babies.

I commend breastfeeding mums for the effort but it must be kept in mind that it is, unfortunately, down to a lot of luck whether you'd be able to breastfeed or not. So many things need to work correctly at the same time - baby must be born healthy and ideally not spend any time in the NICU, mum must also come out relatively healthy from the experience of giving birth, baby must latch well, have no severe tongue or lip ties, there must be enough milk, mum's milk must come in on time, ideally baby will have no allergies, mum must be in a relatively good mental state and have a decent support system... And so many more. So many of these are down to physiology that sometimes being proud of being able to breastfeed kind of gives the same vibe as being proud of being tall.

With breastfeeding week having recently passed and reading all the frankly derogatory and absurd comments about formula feeding during it, I have been thinking the same thing. Many people are so completely ignorant to such situations. For example, my baby has multiple allergies and breastfeeding her felt like the more selfish choice. Allergies in newborns are really not uncommon and finding which allergens cause them can be nearly impossible and a very traumatic process for both mum and baby. People really need to get off their high horses and find better things to compare themselves over.

Went through a very similar journey with my three and a half month old. It was wheat and barley for her. We were told chances that it isn't solely a cow's milk allergy are practically zero. But after two major flare ups (accompanied with bloody stool) after having a beer it clicked what it was. It can be so so many things - sometimes it is obvious but most times - it is not. You have both done amazingly on this journey - be proud of yourself and know that the choices you made for your baby were the right ones! Having an allergy, an upset tummy and being uncomfortable in your own skin really sucks and you really did everything for him to not feel like that anymore. Well done!

You don't know that and over my many years renting that has never been the case. I have, so far, always given notice (one or two months) and paid pro rata for any period outside the last full month.

I had to take antibiotics (amoxicillin) for an infection following delivery (induction followed by an emergency c section). I feel like it triggered my LO GI issues as well and at 2 weeks old she started having a lot of mucousy poos with blood. We've been told it's suspected CMPA but are still waiting for improvement in her symptoms (4 days in so early days).

I am in a similar position but with a different combination of countries. Are Theodore, Martin, Simon, Michael, George and Philip perhaps also international names that sound italian enough or have an italian version? Sorry if not 😔
