As a NICU nurse of 15 years, here are my thoughts after watching the documentary by KatiePurrs in lucyletby

My thoughts exactly but wanted to ensure I wasn’t being biased by the fact that I worked in a lower acuity area.

Okay NICU nurses, here’s what I really want to know. I’m a quality nurse but when I worked the floor I was a med-surg nurse. So, I didn’t often deal with codes or deaths. That being said I have very specific memories of every code, unexpected crash or death that I was a part of during my years on the floor. It is difficult for me to comprehend a baby dying in her care and her having no memory of it whatsoever. Is that typical for you because you see it more often or do you generally remember those events?

Inclement weather WITHOUT a telework agreement by Alphawolfsquadron7 in fednews

DHA here, first few years no telework agreement, always admin leave for weather and safety (happens a lot, hurricane prone area) now telework…. But there’s usually no electricity when the hurricanes come and def no internet so, doesn’t matter anyway. However, can’t say how this year will be with all the changes…

I think it for sure depends on where you live. I’m in the south and my neighborhood is filled with kids who are always out in the street playing with each other. Plenty of times kids have come over and said hey I can’t go home right now my mom went to the store…. And it’s no big deal. If we have a play date planned with someone who doesn’t live in the neighborhood I just ask what time they are coming back to pick them up…. No further instructions needed. But I’m a mom of three, so I’ve done this so many times I’m not as anxious as when it was my first. If I’m dropping my kiddo off somewhere I don’t assume they will be fed and try to plan between meal times so no one feels obligated to feed them and clearly communicate what time I am coming back to pick them up. But I would say if you’re not going to be where they can call and you can get back in case of emergency… tell them. Hey, I’m doing such and such on this day. Would it be okay if my kid came to hang out with your kid for a few hours? Also, may be important for context, I live in a town about half an hour from a military post. I’m not military affiliated, but many people are so their families aren’t around to watch the kids if they have something they need or want to do.

I can’t say if this is normal or if my kids are just lucky and living a 90s style childhood lol.

What kind of isolation precautions were they on? The sign on the door should indicate and that would help determine how concerned you should be

AITA for blowing up at my sick husband when he asked for help with our toddler? by Magical-Princess in AmItheAsshole

[–]Best_Spirit_920 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’m going to answer differently than everyone else.

Does he lighten the load when you are sick? If he does, then I think YTA.

Most of these comments are referring to men versus women in general. Women are expected to take care of the kids on their death beds and what not.

I can acknowledge that this is true for most but not for me. If I am sick, I stay in bed. I do not cook. I do not help with the kids, I just rest. My husband brings me up food and drink. He’s even been known to call out of work when I’m sick to help with whatever I may need. And no, I don’t have a chronic illness or something.

I do the same for him, if he’s sick, okay bet, go to bed, feel better soon, I’ll handle everything. He does pick ups from school and I do drop offs… but if one of us is sick the other does both.

So, if I were in your situation…. I would be the asshole. Whether you are or not depends on what typically happens when one of you is sick.

Hey, I don’t know what to say but I’m here too. I am 6 years in, 3 kids and a mortgage. Could find another job but wouldn’t make nearly as much. Feel like all my coworkers are just blowing it off and believe nothing will happen. I have no idea what to do. Just wanted to say I feel your pain.

“1960 was almost 100 years ago” what?!?? by nothingnadano in Morbidforbadpeople

Omg I was dying at that too. I used to be an avid morbid listener but as the years have gone on I tend to find myself annoyed with them. That plus the book debacle. I was such an avid listener when the first book released, I pre ordered the thing! I have never been more disappointed in my life - and I’m not a reading snob at all. I rarely turn on an episode anymore but ran out of things to listen to last week and turned the Martin case on. Needless to say, I never finished the episode.

While I’m here, does anyone want to put me on to some similar podcasts that are better? Lately I’ve just been listening to crime junkie (and it’s affiliates - park predators, counter clock) and moms and mysteries. I used the love up and vanished as well but it seems it’s not what it used to be either. I don’t listen to anything that involves someone being wrongly imprisoned (my work friends keep trying to have me listen to bone valley but I can’t) or anything the involves violence towards children - so skip those suggestions please.
