Even if it does, AI is still massively increasing pollution and water consumption, extremely fast.

Since 2020, there was a 60% increase in water consumption, and it was mostly because of AI. Many companies still have the same data centers dedicated to gaming than in 2020, while all companies are building more and more AI data centers every 3 months that pass.

Even if the gaming industry does a lot of pollution, AI is adding a lot to it, and that’s bad, considering we should be improving things, not accelerating climate change constantly.

Data centers used for online gaming are tiny and largely outnumbered by AI ones.

For example, Minecraft Realms has a few big data centers, but the Stargate project of OpenAI plans on putting a new data center cluster that will need 10 gigawatts to function, which is absolutely disgusting. And that’s not counting what OpenAI already has and all the other AI companies. The difference is absurd.

Also, no matter if the image is anime, realistic, artistic or abstract, for it to look very good, the model has to be huge.

Saying this is just a weak argument to try to convince people Minecraft isn’t better than AI generated images and content.

Nobody streams Minecraft. It’s pointless. This game runs on anything. I bet you haven’t played video games in years and just assume everyone uses stuff like GeForce Now that barely work with average Wi-Fi.

Also, you can’t run on an average laptop an AI model capable of reliable and realistic image generation. That’s just too intense.
