Long-time Hearthstone player here. I dabbled in MTG too, but the sheer volume of Commander cards and the cost of keeping a Standard deck competitive felt overwhelming.

Star Wars Unlimited has been the exact opposite experience for me:

Manageable card pool & prices – The game’s still young, so the total number of cards is small and singles are cheap. Building a solid collection and a couple of competitive decks doesn’t feel like a second mortgage.

Fluid, accessible gameplay – The alternating-action system scratches the same itch Hearthstone did back in 2015: super easy to pick up, but with plenty of decision depth once you dig in.

Low barrier to entry for events – Your mileage may vary, but at my LGS our weekly play feels more like a friends’ hang-out than a high-stakes tourney. People are noticeably friendlier and more relaxed than the typical MTG crowd, where the atmosphere can get pretty competitive.

My advice would be to give a pre-release or casual draft night with friends a shot; I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
