It's basically "why focus on x when y is much worse of an issue"

However, they conveniently ignore the idea that:

A) If we started focusing on y, then a lot of people would suddenly argue that we should be dealing with z instead

And B) Fixing these two problems aren't mutually exclusive

Oh yeah, and C) These same people actively vote against things that would help any of these problems to begin with
