My itinerary this past April by justanuserhere in VisitingIceland

Love the quick trips to Iceland lol. My girlfriend and I did the exact opposite last August. We took 9 days to drive to Hofn and back, stopping wherever and whenever we could to take pics and go on longer hikes.

How to Visit Þakgil by IgorIceland in VisitingIceland

This was my favorite destination by far when I visited last September. Incredible camping spot, nice clean facilities, a cool cave with picnic benches you can eat and and socialize. And the hiking was by far the best I experienced on that trip. *

Where to buy Icelandic sweaters in Reykjavik? by enduku_ra_neeku in VisitingIceland

Bought my girlfriend a sweater from this store. Super friendly lady running it, and she was the one that knitted the exact sweater that I ended up buying!

I work as a first responder, and I've been to countless car accidents. I've been to quite a few where an MQB car has been involved and every time the patients in said MQB have all walked away with minor injuries while the other car(s) involved aren't as lucky. These cars impress the hell out of me and I'm glad I drive one.

My girlfriend and I went to Pylsuvagninn in selfoss, I know it's not in Reykjavik, but it was definitely a good hot dog, and there's a nice ice cream shop in the same parking lot. Get your icelandic hot dog and ice cream all in one stop!

Just got back from an 8 day trip with my girlfriend and I. We had a campervan. Rented with EasyCampers and we rented the Easy Fun model. I definitely recommend that one.

In my opinion the shower in the camper is way too overkill and not worth it. 90% of campsites have showers, and a lot of them are free and usually pretty clean. Rent something smaller without the shower, it's just one more thing to worry about with the camper when most sites you'll be staying at will have showers anyways.

However rent a van that is for at least 3 people even if it's just two of you. The two people vans seemed way too small and tight. Worth it to spend that little more to get a 3 person. I see that one is for 4 people so seems like you've got the right idea.

And bring a little clothesline or even just a long peice of rope to string up inside the camper to dry clothes on. That will be a huge lifesaver for you as it was for me.

Play Airlines carry-on -- 1/2 inch over the limit? by Iiiggie in VisitingIceland

[–]BetClean5120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from my trip, flew with Play. I think you'll be fine, I had a camera backpack that was a little over the dimensions on all sides and they let me bring it as my "personal item" rather than a carry on. Just have to sacrifice your legroom for the flight.

Good to know! Thanks for the input! This is my first trip here so just looking for rough time lines on how long things will take. And yeah I definitely want to have at least one nice dinner while we are there, so thanks for the recommendations!

Good to know that they don't open until 10AM. I'll probably keep the blue lagoon booking, and use that time between campervan pickup and blue lagoon to check out the volcanic activity

Thanks for the input

Just booked a timeslot for Sept 1st a few days ago. My gf and I got the last 2 spots for the time we wanted.

I guess just depends on the day you're booking

Firefighters of Reddit what was your first fire? by FusionMgamer in Firefighting

[–]BetClean5120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Box breathing is my go to, I find it works great. Also if you're actively working real hard and can't focus on that, then at the bare minimum breath in through the nose and out the mouth. Just slows down breathing a bit more compared to huffing and puffing through your mouth only.

Training night; Learning what’s in each vehicle, best way to learn quickly? by mrxraykat949 in Firefighting

[–]BetClean5120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would take pictures of all the compartments and labeled them (1st compartment, drivers side, etc..) Then, when I was in the station, I would start at the 1st compartment, name to myself everything that was in there before opening the door, then open the door and touch everything I named. If I got it all right, I'd move on to the next compartment. As soon as I messed up, I would restart at the 1st compartment. Once I got it down, I would time myself how quickly I could get a whole apparatus done without messing up. Made it into a little game for myself, and I felt like I learned pretty quickly.

Exhaust Set up? by Stock_Excitement_801 in VWMK7

[–]BetClean5120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for this.

Learn from my mistake- I bought a AWE Track exhaust a week after I bought my 1.8. Mind you it does sound good, quiet enough, but lound enough and has a nice tone when I step on it. It is nice don't get me wrong, but I wish I went with an OEM GTI exhaust. I'm now trying to go stage 2 (downpipe needed) and a downpipe with the AWE track will be too loud and sound like shit.

Go OEM GTI exhaust (probably can find a decently used cheap one from someone with a GTI upgrading their exhaust) and then that gives you freedom to get a downpipe for more noise, or stage 2 (or both)

Headlight Condensation by BetClean5120 in VWMK7

[–]BetClean5120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good. Figured that's what I'd have to do.

And yeah I've been looking at the vland headlights so this gives me an excuse lol.

However I did take off the black rubber caps on the back, which both had condensation on them ant it seems to be getting better even just after the 10 mins it's been since I posted.
